I am in the process of setting up a new tank. I have a bunch of different ideas for aquascaping but all the rock I am dealing with has questionable if any life on it. Another route I was going to go is to use Marco rock, another "dead" rock. Which leads me to my question, on their site they recomend the use of Fritz turbo start. I guess it's basically bacteria in a bottle and has to be cold-packed and shipped overnight. I can't find much info on this company but everything I can find is positive. Apparently zoos and aquariums use the stuff. They claim a cycling time of 5 days. Anyone tried it?

Just an update, I decided to give this stuff a try. It seems to be working. I brought the tank up to 5ppm ammonia with ammonium chloride. Apparently this is a very pure source of ammonia and contains no additives or detergents as household ammonia might have. After just 24 hours the tank ammonia had dropped to 1.5ppm and nitrites had shot up to 4 ppm from 0ppm. It would appear that the Turbo Start bacteria is consuming the ammonia.

I have actually used it on a few tanks and it seems to work very well. I hear there are better ones for the cost but I have had good luck with it
