Frogspawn and Hammer corals

Hello

I got frogspawn and hammer corals couple days ago. I was just wondering how far i should place them from the light? What to feed them and how often feed them?
My Tank is 29 gallon. 18" deep. And light is 130w PC lights.( 65w 10000K and 65w 50/50 )

Thanks

Euphyllia (hammer & frogspawn) corals can actually touch each other without doing any harm. This does not apply to torch corals though. Give them plenty of room to grow - I just fragged my frogspawn which went from the size of an apple to about a 1.5 feet in diameter!

I've had my frogspawns and hammers a few inches under the water surface for going on 2 years. I came down with a severe bryopsis algae problem and just tore 95% of my rock out of the tank. Now all of my coral including the frogspawns and hammers are sitting on the bottom in the substrate. They've been there for weeks and expand out just as normal. Higher in your tank would probably be better. 65w PCs are not going to hurt them. That's probably on the low side for light if anything for these but they'll be fine.
Mine also come out of the water when I do water changes. They're exposed to air for 5+minutes at a time and it doesn't hurt them a bit.

I use 250 w metal halides with a 9" distance above the water. My frog and hammer are happy at a 4" distance below the water surface, and have tripled in size in 6 months.

However, with any new coral, best start low and move it upward week by week, or if they're your one-and-onlies, reduce your photoperiod and increase it slowly to let them adjust. Just as humans 'tan' to protect themselves from sun, corals increase their little micro-passengers to help shield them. They can 'sunburn' so go slowly.

Note: these corals like to be gently 'tossed' by the current, and the edge of a 'cliff' is a good place for them. They feed off the upwelling.

I could swear they needed more lighting than people say. I've had mine in the lower left corner of a 20G tank lit by 175W MH for a year, and my frogspawn's base is shrinking, time to do something about that.

I have mine at the bottom of my 20g gal high under NO T5 28 watt bulbs. It does fine. I feed it chucks of mysis once a week and phyto in the tank 3 times per week.

My experience agrees with vessxpress1 - my hammer did fine anywhere in the 29. It eventually ended up about 3/4 of the way down under 55w pc lights.

XeniaMania, kfowler may be on to something concerning food. I target feed mine mysis, bits of silversides, zooplankton, etc. with a baster. it would really open up. that may be more the issue than lighting

I have my frogspawn about 8" below the water directly under a 96w combo PC light. The forgspawn has grown some, but has turned pale under the light. Same with a trumpet coral under the light... heck, I even have some shrooms on the bottom of the tank that have bleached under the light. I think people tend to underestimate the effectiveness of PC lighting ... in my case, I've backed my light cycle down to about 10.5 hrs a day to see if this helps the frogspawn get some color back. Otherwise, it's doing well... I have it located in a spot where it gets some good random flow and it's growing for sure.
