Frogspawn reproduction?

How does a Frogspawn reproduce? The reason I ask is mine has been dropping off small tips of its polyps lately. They fall off and seem like they are healed they don't lose shape. They float around in the tank until my tang destroys them. If I was to catch one and place it in a small covered dish inside the tank with rubble would it eventually form and new skeleton?

I've tried it [it does this tip-dropping thing when stressed---or if something is nipping them off]. I've never had one grow skeleton.

They reproduce by two methods: growing another head, often preceded by forming a bubble in its tissue...

...or by forming new little heads on the 'skirt' of its head, which are sort of alternate selves should anything happen to the main head.

Mine has grown 4 new heads in the past 6-8 months. So how do they spread in the ocean? Are like sps and deposit eggs into the current and hope for the best?

in the ocean most corals have a form of sexual reproduction. it is rarely seen in tanks.
