Frogspawn, Torch, or hammer

I'd also recommend frogspawn over the others. I had a golden torch shrivel and die in just over a week, while this frogspawn started at roughly 1/3 this size a year ago.

I have the base of one branch in the sand which broke off when I was moving it a while back (a poor, but successful fragging job), and this has branched into two. The other branches stem from one base which is lodged in a hole in the live rock. I refuse to put them higher in the tank, as I had a hermit knock the single piece into a scroll coral, and I now have a nice brown spot in the middle of that coral which is slowly growing back. I've found that they do well here as there is intermittent flow from the wavemaker, and it also appears to be where the excess food (ova, coral frenzy) end up when I do dose.

I have a euphilla collection myself. Here's some pics I have on my phone, I'll throw some better ones up tomorrow so you can see some different kinds.

I have a frogspawn (5 heads) still splitting, and a small frag of a hammer coral. Both thrive well together. I plan on finding a torch that suits my taste in color.

Im glad Im not the only one whos had bad luck with torches. I had one last a few months ans another that only lived a couple weeks. Meanwhile my frogspawn and hammers thrived

I recently got a torch coral, and for whatever reason, it swiftly died. Tried all different places to make it happy, but I'm not sure it even had a chance :( It never opened once.... Meanwhile, my frog/hammer hybrid is growing like a weed and one head is currently turning into 3 and other tiny heads are popping up as well.

Yea, they are funny animals. It seems I can keep anything but torch. I have a couple different torches and I have never killed them, but they always seem to do just so-so while everything else thrives. I've had extreme success with my different types of Goni but not torch. What gives?

Here is my torch, I have since moved the zoanthids because the sweepers were getting close. Started as a 1" frag, and now a few months later its 3" with sweepers that can extend up to 5"

This pic was just after my lights came on so its still "waking up" and not full size...only pic I had handy on my PC

Took an updated torch picture for ya! I bought this as a 1" tiny frag at the end of May, and it has tripled in size since then. I feed mysis twice a week, and have high lighting and flow. View attachment 202077

The frag disk diameter is 1" if you want a size reference.

Everyone has their favourites. Euphyllias are one of mine. I have to agree with others that you should try "all of the above". Enclosed are pics of my favourite pieces. The Torches started out as 2-3 heads each and have grown consistently over the course of several months with ridiculously long sweepers. The hammer was just added about a week ago. Pictures were taken with a camera phone (hence the poor quality - apologies).
