Frogspawn

I purchased some more frogspawn this weekend. One of the stalks is spread apart from the rest approx 5 inches. Need to know a couple things. One, can the stalks be cut apart without hurting the frogspawn itself, so i can get it closer to the group. If so is there a better way to go about cutting stalk from the rest of the group?

Ya you can cut it. just cut it right at the base of that particular branch. You know like where it branches off and splits from the other branches?? Ya...right there. I've even just snapped them before and not even had to use a dremel (which is what most people use to do it) or bonecutters.

I bought some epoxy, this weekend too. I want to set them up nicely on a small rock so the i can also expoxy the small rock onto a larger one. Will it hurt the frogspawn to be out of the water for short (15sec intervals) time so I can glue their bases together?

No they'll be fine out of water for a while. When i got my hammer and frogspawn the guy had them out of water for like 15 minutes while he was using the dremel. Actually they never did even close up all the way haha.

Careful with the epoxy. I tried it once and it sent my skimmer into the twilight zone for a couple of days. Since I have used super glue gel with great success.

I'd still use the putty on something that big. If it was a tiny little branch, then maybe use the glue, but on a big colony of frogspawn, i personally would stick with the putty.

I dont think the glue would hold something this big. I dont have a skimmer yet, so not worried about that. Skimmer is coming soon though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If my stalks are 3-4 inches long, can I shorten them?? How far away from the head should I stay? I only want to shorten the longer ones to match the shorter ones. I Like a Big Bush!! LOL
