Frozen vs pellets and flake

I use a variety. The only thing I don't use is flake. I alternate frozen one day with NLS pellets the next.

They all work.. FWIW I have a pair of Ocellaris clownfish that breed on a regular basis and the majority of their diet consists of dry foods. (mostly flakes)

My fish get most excited with my mix of frozen foods. I use a very varied mix of PE mysis (which are huge), Hikari mysis (which are small), Rod's Food, LRS Frenzy, Cyclops-eeze, BBS, rotifers, Hikari Angel mix, Spirulina Brine Shrimp, Squid and Krill. I change up the mix every day, but both types of mysis and either Cyclops-eeze or BBS are added daily. My fish go nuts over this mix.

Nori sheets help tide them over between my thrice-a-day blast of the frozen mix.

I don't use flakes, since most of it goes into the overflow before the fish get to it. Even if I pre-soak it so it all sinks, most of the fish show no interest.

Some people swear by using only NLS pellets, but even for my fish that like it, they would rather eat the frozen food when I feed both at the same time. Some of them avoid the pellets altogether. Maybe I need to give the pellets more often to get them used to it, but I like to spoil my fish, so I give them what they like.

I also dose the food daily with Selcon and Boyd's Vita-Chem. I'm not sure if it makes any difference, but it makes me feel good and a lot of experts recommend them.

My tank gets a random mix of whatever I happen to put in the mug, frozen, flake, liquid, powder, freeze dried, pellets and even live. They all work to feed fish. If you get to anemones and corals that do better if they get more than photosynthesis for food, more of a mix may work better.

I use all three. I like how the flakes fly around a long time instead of just sinking right away like the pellets. Most of my feeding is rinsed off blender mush that I make, but I go out of town pretty often so I think it's important to give dry food regularly so that when I rely on the autofeeder it's not a big change for the fish.

My fish gets feed 3x a day. In the morning they get feed flakes, get NLS pellets at 1pm, and a variety of frozen for their evening meal. They all attacked the different foods all with the same aggression.
