My fish get most excited with my mix of frozen foods. I use a very varied mix of PE mysis (which are huge), Hikari mysis (which are small), Rod's Food, LRS Frenzy, Cyclops-eeze, BBS, rotifers, Hikari Angel mix, Spirulina Brine Shrimp, Squid and Krill. I change up the mix every day, but both types of mysis and either Cyclops-eeze or BBS are added daily. My fish go nuts over this mix.
Nori sheets help tide them over between my thrice-a-day blast of the frozen mix.
I don't use flakes, since most of it goes into the overflow before the fish get to it. Even if I pre-soak it so it all sinks, most of the fish show no interest.
Some people swear by using only NLS pellets, but even for my fish that like it, they would rather eat the frozen food when I feed both at the same time. Some of them avoid the pellets altogether. Maybe I need to give the pellets more often to get them used to it, but I like to spoil my fish, so I give them what they like.
I also dose the food daily with Selcon and Boyd's Vita-Chem. I'm not sure if it makes any difference, but it makes me feel good and a lot of experts recommend them.
