So I had a BTA that my false perculas hosted after about 2 days in the tank.
That only lasted about a month before the nem mad a b-line for a power head and chopped himself up.
Well, after the tank recovered I got a LTA in the hopes that it would not wander. Well, so far it has stayed exactly where I put it and has been a model citizen. But... after almost 2 weeks, the clowns could care less that it is in the tank. I know it is not their natural host, but neither was the BTA.

Does anyone think the f. perculas will ever host the LTA? Should I just try to get some store credit for them and get a couple maroons? This is a mixed tank, I will only have one pair of clowns.

2 weeks really isn't all that long. While I no longer have them, over the years I have had 2 different pairs of ocellaris hosted by LTAs (( Macrodactyla doreensis )), and I want to say it took both pairs at least a month to be hosted.

That's encouraging.
I don't think I would have too much of a problem swapping out fish but my wife would throw a fit I'm sure.

Will clowns change host species?

ITs been my experience that the breed of clown hosting a certain nem really has no bearing on if they will host.

If they will host or not is a crap shoot as some clowns will host a certain nem, some won't. I had 2x LTA, 2x GBTA and my clown would do laps jumping in each one.

Then I've had other clowns that wouldn't touch my nems, but would host my wavebox.

Give it time.

Yes, they will. About 5 months ago (( give or take )) I removed an LTA from one of my tanks that was hosting a pair of Percs, I replaced it with a Haddoni. The Haddoni wasn't even all the way in the tank and the clowns were being hosted.

If your occs took BTA as host at 2 days, that was pretty quick for them.
Give it more time, if they did it once before I'm sure they will again.

Why maroons? They aren't natural symbionts for LTAs either. Clarkii would probably be a sure bet, as LTAs are natural hosts for them.
