I decided that I really really want an HDTV so I am selling my tank.

Here is what it is:

125 gal rr Clarity Plus Acrylic tank w/stand and hood, 3 sides viewable, black plastic non-removable backing on outside.
A few scratches on the inside from a careless owner before me, but a lot of them can be buffed out. I have the 3 stage buffing compound to use from Marine Solutions.

30-40 gallon acrylic sump w/pump--used to be a bio-ball tank, but I changed it to a non-bioball sump. Nothing spectaculr, but a nice external pump.

Hood: 2x250 icecap retros with 14k bulbs, 1x400 evc retro w/10k bulb
4 radio shack cooling fans

Octopus nw200 skimmer
2 mj1200s modded
jbj ato

ya i have an HDTV... i would say wait.
there are only a few channels in HD that come on charter at least, and they cost extra.
it does make video games better though...

HDTV rocks and I love it, HOWEVER

as Dert said, Charter is hosing us big time on the channels

we dont even get CBS HD unless you use one of those stupid *** antennas

my little brother lives in Fargo, North Dakota and they get many many more HD channels than us....in addition to what we get they also get A&E HD, National Geographic HD, HGTV HD, etc etc

I"d even pay extra if they'd offer them to us

at this time, IMO, its not worth it for you to give up the tank just for HD

for $10/month from charter (plus cost of cable box) I only get HDNet, HDNet Movies, ESPN HD, Discovery HD, HBO HD, Showtime HD, Skinimax HD, CW11 HD, Fox HD, NBC HD, PBS HD, TNT HD, FSN HD (always off-air, only on during blues games...probably will for cardinals, but I didnt have it last summer), Music HD (mtv, vh1 and cmt all combines....not that cool)

although the list is long, think about how many of those you'd actually watch....very few

anyways, its your choice, but IMO I wouldnt give up my tank for it at this time

If you decide to part I would like the JBJ ATO and possibly the two MJs.

I have an HDTV and agree with the other two guys. There isnt much out there unless you pay extra. Now if you like to watch movies you will definitely enjoy it.

Here's what I'm going to do: un-reef my tank but keep it as a fowlr.

250 retros icecap 14k (2) $150/ea
400 retro evc 10k $180
octo nw200 skimmer $150
jbj ato $100
all of my corals $350

pavona, orange zoos, hitchiker zoos, yellow and pink monti, orange monti, , 2 gsp rocks, fiji leather, green shroom rock, purple shroom rock, 2 leather/shroom rock, kenya tree coral.

I'd prefer to get rid of all of the corals at once. pm me

I would wait on the HDTV for 6 months. The 1080p's are dropping in price and HDMI 1.3 will be coming out shortly. The HDMI 1.3 will be the new conductivity standard between HD DVD players and accessories (I heard PS3 already has it, Sony was looking ahead).

While there is definitely alot of truth to what reef_doug is saying, at the same time there is almost nothing being broadcast in 1080p and the tv's up conversion from 720p, 1080i, to 1080p is not that great. Now the statement about 1.3 hdmi is SUPER HUGE, though i have not seen exact release spec as of yet, they are saying the bandwidth difference is amazing it literally goes from millions of color pass through to billions. and yes the ps3 definitely has it and so does any sony blu-ray player it was the biggest delay on the ps3, the next line up of tv's are supposed to be equipped with 1.3 from sony I would also assume the same from other big company's (samsung mitsubishi, etc.)

forgot to add that I have a purple clam that will have to go as well that I will package with the corals I will also throw in a $21 gift cert to gateway to further sweeten the deal.

And I meant green finger leather.
