If you decided to part out Carl I might be interested with some equipment, like calcium reactor, ozone generator and the monti cap colony...

Someone ought to do the ultimate " anti- parting out", and instead
Just buy the house!!!
(Just think, No moving heavy equipment, no stress to any tank inhabitants, and system would include an amazing skylight)!
Seriously though, best of luck Carl, and
GLWS! ( it's an awesome set up)!

Lol that's hilarious. Good luck with the sale....nice huge Monti colony.

Carl - I bought a ballast off you years ago- still have it - and got a tour of your custom build.

Sad to see this go. GLWS!

Man, if I only had the extra funds.

Good luck Carl. I know you've been on an adventure with the tank and the house. Hope all goes well this time around.

Awsome setup for anyone loking to get a turnkey system.

Carl, are you parting out your house also???

LOL

after much discussion this weekend we have decided we can't sell the house now. we found a great property to buy but we don't really have time to sell the tank and all that entails while the seller of the other house waits for us to make a quick sale of our house.

i feel a great responsibilty to the livestock. the tank looks the best it has ever looked. it will take more time than we have now to find homes for all the livestock.

i like the idea of a reefer buying the house but that is not likely. i maintain the tank myself with occasional help every couple of months. it is a big commitment especially for someone that isn't into it, not to mention how much a service would be to do the maintenance. estimates are about $1000 a month plus supplies.

as you all know it can be a bit overwhelming at time maintaining a reef tank.

my electric bill is a couple hundred a month. without the tank the electric bill would be Zero.

maybe one day i will sell the tank and get an all ecectric car but for now it looks like the tank and I are staying put.

when we listed the house before people would come in and say wow, and then say how much does it cost to maintain, etc?no one expressed any interest in keeping the tank.

so if we do ever sell the house i think we will just break the tank down before the house goes up for sale.

this property is where i grew up. my folks built the first house here in 1952. at that time it was a dirt street surrounded by lima bean fields. the property was a double lot at that time. it cost my folks $10,00 to buy the lot and build the house. thank you mom and dad.

it really is a much bigger house than the two of us need so someday we may sell it when it gets to be too much to climb the stairs.

my wife says i am not happy without a project and she may be right but my project will not be building a new house at this time. it was a lot of work, and now i have time to enjoy being mostly-retired. :hmm5:
