FS: Brand New ADA Rimless 48 Gallon Tank

Reggae Reefer

ADA 90cm Cube Garden for sale.

I'm not sure how many reefers know about the company ADA. They are geared towards planted tanks. They are super high quality aquariums, and are rimless/trimless so they are very clean looking. They look like this when they are set up:

It is 90cm x 45cm x 45cm, which is about 36"x18"x18".

I just bought it a couple weeks ago and for life event reasons won't be able to set it up. They are at least $300 new and I am forced to sell it immediately so I am asking $200. It is brand new, unused and in it's original packaging, only opened to check for damage. Let me know if you have any questions.

thanks,
Craig

Wow! Those look like my Elos tank! :) Did you have it shipped when you bought it or was it local?

I'm located in North Oakland/Berkeley border. I don't have a stand, I was going to build one. There is really only one retail store in the US that is fully stocked with ADA goods and we are lucky enough to have it in SF. http://aquaforestaquarium.com/

There are a lot of pictures on their site. It's a really cool store worth checking out. The family that owns it really knows their stuff. They can have ADA style stands made by a local cabinet maker. I got one of them for my ADA 18 gallon, this is a pic right after I set it up: http://dub.bz/plantedtank/volcaniscape/11.26.06/11.26.06whole.jpg

I really wanted to set this tank up but I'm not going to be able to unfortunately.

wow.. nice tank, really like the rimless look..

Thanks for the replies, the tank is sold now. I really like the look too. Anyone in SF Japantown should check out Aqua Forest, they are all freshwater but you guys might appreaciate the stuff. I started out with reefs but am pretty much a planted guy these days.

very nice and clean looking sorry to ask but is it glass or acrylic

No sorries, ask away...

ADA only uses glass. I think they would bow if they were acrylic.

They do have a reef at their HQ in Japan too, I should have linked this although its a far away pic:

Personally I don't like the rimless tanks. I'm not bashing yours but I think people forget how easy it is to splash around in a tank when you are cleaning it. Seems like it would be easy to make a mess with that type of tank. They do look cool though.

i have a small rimless 8g tank, and it's true, just maintaining the tank makes water displace all over the place... though I'm sure it's less when you have a bigger tank.

get ready for major salt creep!!!

though if you're doing freshwater, then you're ok =)

Yeah, I think that FW has the advantage with no salt creep. They really aren't that much harder to take care of, and the little extra attention to keeping what is normally hidden clean, is made up for by the easy access. I hate the huge center brace on my Oceanic 75. The small tanks have the displacement problem regardless of whether or not they have a rim, huge tweezers are a must.

You service guys:rolleyes: Always thinking about the practical side of things :)

FWIW, tweasers like Reggea said, the only way to fly when doing rimless. Also, magnetic cleaners, and Kent scrapers:) FWIW, rimless doesn't always mean overflowless either. I've seen some insane rimless tanks with overflows. The two that I've seen, had thorite like substance formed around the OF to make it look like it was a piece of the reef going right to the surface of the tank. Classy :)
