FS/FT: Leopard Wrasse

Hello,

I bought a leapord wrasee from Fish Planet a few days ago and at the time of purchase I totally forgot that I had a six line wrasse already in my main display tank (to late for an attempt to return the fish). I QT'd him to make sure he will take frozen food which he does (I've had a few leapord wrasse in my days and I've come across two thus far that eats frozen food). Anyhow I finally decided to put him into my display tank and even before I had a chance to get him out of the acclimation bag, the six line wrasse was already trying to nip at him, so I put him back into the QT.

I paid $25 plus tax for the guy and I'm asking $15. I'm also willing to trade for a MJ1200 or any colorful SPS frags. Thanks for looking.

BTW I tried to take a picture but just can't seem to get one worth posting.

Aren't leopard wrasse also known for controlling flatworms? Great deal for the leopard wrasse. I would go for it - but I want a mandarin goby.

I don't know if they are good for controlling flatworms but they are for sure cool looking, the madarin are awesome looking fish too..! I actually tried to keep one a while back but after about a month or so it went misssing. I'm a big fan of the leopard wrasse for some reason, I want to keep the guy but there is no way I'm going to try to catch the six line.

Hey Lou, whats up man? The leopard wrasse I have is not the blue star one your looking for it's the more common one, I don't quite know the name though. But here is a pic.

BTW the picture I have posted is not of the actuall fish I have. I got the picture online, I couldn't get a clear shot of the little guy in my QT. I suck with a camera and need to work on my skillz.

Are they coral nipper? Or are they considered reef safe?Aggressive/Passive?

my understanding is that the risk with these guys is what they are after that might be crawling on your coral. However I do not have documented proof as to that at this time.

They are very reef safe and very passive fish. However like the Madarin gobies it's hard to keep them alive becuase most of them only eat pods, it's hard to find one that eats frozen brine/mysis.

I kept one for a couple of years before I took my tank down, John is correct they sometime appear like they are nipping at your corals or live rock but they are just trying to eat whats crawling on them. However the one I kept alive for two years or so did not do that very often being that he accepted frozen food. All in all I would say they are pretty good reef citizens.

I was hoping against hope that it was a bluestar but this is my second choice in the leopard wrasse family. Sorry fellow reefer, consider it sold Sam, prepared eating leopard wrasse, I can't pass that up. =)

Hopefully I'll find a bluestar locally within a year time. PM you on the details bro.
