Anyone interested in a Purple Tube Anemone? Tentacles have a reach of about 3" very colorful, comes out during the day and eats well. $30

Does it sting surrounding animals? Pic?

I remember Sullyman posting on how when he got some new wrasse it was divebombing into the anenome and was getting stung.

They are predators and will eat fish if they get the opportunity.
They have one of the strongest stings.
I've had one for 7 or 8 years, only lost a couple of fish to it. It mostly just filter feeds what's in the water. Fish seem to know what it is and stay away. The wraase that got stung by it was acclimated in my fish trap on top of the anemone, so it didn't think it was dangerous and got stung a few times.
They do extend out from their tubes at night to feed and will sting whatever is close enough to it to touch.

Do they need any special lighting? I'm gonna have an open 50g soon. I was going to make it a FOLR tank, w/a dwarf lion & dusky jawfish (I love those comedians!). I do have a PC to put on it, but the tank is 25" tall. I'd love to have a few zoos & other corals in there, that anemone would be really nice to have too! I was also thinking of using some of the 60 lbs of crushed coral I have in my basement in buckets. Sound OK?

(Sorry, for the hijack but since the anemone is sold anyway...)

Anemone has yet to sting anything as far as I know. It was next to some zoanthids, I know they touched and didn't have a problem. I've also had my cleaner shrimp steal food from it (it does not have a strong grip when it grabs food and the shrimp were in and out) and I've seen it touch my african flameback angel for the same reason stealing food.

It does come out during the day and will post a pic....asap

Jeni, this one has been under pc, vho and mh lighting. They don't need the light for anything that I'm aware of, so it would be fine.
I've seen them grn, purple, and orange but there may be more colors.

I tried cleaning the glass and pics aren't the best since the glass was pretty dirty. Anemone looks just like Sullymans picture but the tentacles are very purple in color. Might have to do with the difference in bulbs, mine is under phoenix 14K's.

By the way pm's sent to me have been replied to..
