How far forward do the light bars extend?

They are 13 inches so with one inch compensation of the back of the tank they position a light source at 12 inches middle of a 24 inches tank.

In other words if you dangle the hanging kit in the light bars they are 12 inches in the middle of a 24 inch tank.
