Just for clarification, the reasons I am not selling this light drdoolittle is because:
1. I was waiting for a deposit for a prospective buyer but it didn't come.
2. I ask drdoolittle to finalize our deal before I receive the deposit because I really want to sell it locally to save the headache.
3. Our last conversation on the what the deal should/shouldn't include and pickup time was never get finalized . Or at least it was my fault that I didn't get that from his reponse.
4. Paypal didn't notify me of the deposit which happen in the mean time.

In other words, I apologize from my end for not making clear communication between parties involved. If this sale fell through and drdoolittle is still interested, I promise I would give him 10% discount and personal delivery of the good to his place. Thanks.

Quan,

Per our last conversation, you asked me to come by on Sunday morning instead of saturday. I said, I hate to miss superbowl, but i could manage it. That same afternoon, i asked you a question about switching the ballast from 400 to 250 and your answer was it was sold. I think that was pretty clear.

Anyways, congrats of the sale. I'm glad you were able to sell it for the price you wanted. But next time, i suggest concentrating on one buyer at a time, instead of multiple and trying to get a better deal..

To be fair, I can understand why he sold it to someone else if they showed up with cash in hand. I cant tell you how many times I've read, and had it happen to myself on numerous occasions, of reefers bailing just before pick up.

Especially with a sale this large, I would have made it clear the unit goes to the first reefer who parts with the funds. :(

If you are suggesting that, after agreeing on terms of the sale and finalizing on a time and place for pickup, that it is okay to backout then do yourself and everyone a favor and don't do business on RC. This was not a first pay first serve sale. The deal was made. It comes back to being a man of your word. There is a reason why greed made the list of top 7 sins.

If I bailed out or did not show up on the agreed place/time. Then i would have understood selling it to the next person. But that wasnt the case. Beside, if he wanted a payment or deposit, all he had to do is ask. Instead of aggreeing on showing up at his place with the cash, then accepting a payment form another person.

Wow-- this is becoming quite unfriendly, especially for RC.

I think we can all agree that there was mis-communication. I think we can also agree that the seller will do a better job in communicating in his future endeavors.

However, I do tend to agree with Nerdy Nudi -- that in general (NOT in this particular case since it sounds like an agreement was made) sales are based on cash in hand, and the first person with the cash gets the sale, especially in cases as Nerdy Nudi mentioned -- when the sale is for a significant amount of money. In my experience as a seller, buyers tend to agree to purchase an item, then realize that they can't come up with the cash.

Personally, if I made a deal with "person #1" to pick up an item on say, a Monday and today is Saturday, I would tell this person EXPLICITLY that if a "person #2" were to come along with cash in hand on Sunday, then "person #2" would get the sale. In this scenario, person #1 couldn't pick it up for whatever reason, and that's a responsibility solely on the buyer, not the seller.

Buyers should understand that they need to do whatever they need to do to be the first person with the cash to pick up an item, and if they can't make it, then they risk having some else purchase the item. I've missed countless purchases when another buyer "beat me to it" so I think it goes both ways.

Again, communication is the key and to reiterate -- in this particular case it sounds like a deal was made. This is the classic story of a deal gone bad, but I think it's time to walk away. I don't know if it's the economy or what, but it seems like people are quick to butt heads. If we all just chilled out for a bit and put ourselves in each other's situations and tried to understand where they were coming from, then maybe we'd get along better.

I agree 100%
