Nice clams! Can you take photos of the clams without the blue tubes? - That will show off the colours much better.

Looking good! They seem happy. How do the polyps look?

That would stink about the nem; it's such a nice size and everything.

Sahin - Yeah I'll try that later tonight to take some pics with regular white lights. The iphone just can't take all the blue...

Kasey - The polyps are still ticked at me from the dip, so not sure how they look yet and the blue dragon, well, looks like any sps after it has been shipped and then dipped, so I'm not going to take any pics till it colors back up.

Yeah I'll keep my fingers crossed on the nem. The first sps in its way are red planet and sour apple birdsnest, but hopefully they won't ever have to meet each other.

Ok. Here are some pics with just plain ceiling fan light :

Shows a little potential (no flash), getting closer to true color:

With Flash! That's more like it!

Sorry about the flash reflection...but thats as good as I could get. I still can't seem to get the right angle on the 2nd clam, but the rim isn't green, it's turquoise...

WOOOOOOOW :eek1:

Although the photos dont show off the Clams fully, having kept Clams over the years, and seen so many at the LFS, I know just how beautiful they are, and your two clams ARE BEAUTIFUL; and they are multicoloured too! Awesome purchases! How much did they set you back?

Thanks sahin! I'm glad I picked them as well! They looks even more vibrant today! I can't wait for these two to get to a considerable size. The Turquoise/white is about 2in and the Turquoise rimmed is about 2.5 in. Although they were small, they still set me back a little over $200 for the pair, but it was well worth it!

As of now, they are going to stay on the bottom. I would love to place one on in between a few acros to have them grow around it, but there just isn't a whole lot of room....and I want them to be as far away from the nem as possible in case it decides to walk.

Here's a quick update:

Just got a few new toys/final major purchases for the tank!

MP20 to MP40w ES Upgrade

BRS 5 Stage Plus Chloramines RO/DI system

Just barely fits! Still haven't mounted it yet:

I'm still a little surprised how much more powerful the vortech is now. I'm running the MP10 as the master and MP40 as the slave, anti-sync reefcrest. I used to run the MP20 at 80%, but I'm afraid to go past 30% with the MP40...I'm thinking until all the corals start to fill out, I won't sync them at all so I can set the MP10 at the normal 100% without the MP40 creating a whirlpool.

Nice purchases, Jack! That's the same RO/DI system I have; it's great. Looking forward to seeing your future growth!

Cool. I almost got the 6 stage, but now that I see how little room I have with the 5, I'm glad I didn't. Of course, the fitting for the faucet isn't correct so I'm off to home depot. Then to Fish Safari, my local LFS, for hopefully my last fill up of RO! These toys came at a perfect time because I have a 20 page paper on Ecologically and Biologically Significant Marine Areas due soon, but eh, what's putting it off another day! This is clearly more important

So, I setup the RODI unit and here are some preliminary tests (using a HACH spectrophotometer):

Total Chlorine Test:

Tap Water - 2.72 mg/L
10 min flush - 0.00 mg/L
RO/DI Final - 0.00 mg/L

Free Chlorine Test:

Tap Water - 0.87 mg/L
10 min flush - 0.01 mg/L
RO/DI Final - 0.00 mg/L

Ammonia Test:

Tap Water - 0.863
10 min flush - 0.825
RO/DI Final - 0.000

Looks like it is doing its job...Unfortunately, during the heat wave last week, the tank's temp spiked several times (the AC apparently thought it was still winter), which resulted in one of the new clams death :mad2: Sucks, but now I'm preparing for the summer by slowly lowering the tank's temp to 77-78. I also set up a fan to help prevent future spikes.

Here's the measurements of my tank's temp and pH from April 4 - 11. Note: Heat Wave Spikes started mid-day April 7th - ended April 12th.

As you can see, there is a big difference after I installed the fan on April 12th:

And here is my ghetto, unsafe fan install:

Are you using WXM module to control two pumps in anti-sync mode? I am heading to shift my mp20 to mp40 wes. Read different comments on sync and anti-sync mp 40 with mp10. Glad to see it will work.

No, I don't have the WXM module. I am no longer syncing/anti-syncing the two because I couldn't get the right amount of flow. The mp40 is just too powerful right now. I can only have it at a max of 40% on reef crest. While, I keep the mp10 @ 100% on reef crest.

Those T5's are providing it with plenty of PAR, else it would have had some green in it. :D

Yeah, I prefer the bright red I'm getting from it.
