Fuge light question

I have tried a few kinds of lighting with no success. I've tried CFL lamp with a clip on light (6500k) as well as 2 9w power compacts (5700k, I think). Neither seemed to work and I had plenty nutrients. I had given up on a fife, but have decided to give it a go again. I have been looking around, but I need a clip on style or other kind that can be used on a hang on fuge. I came across reptile lamps - they use e27 bulbs, so could this be another option? What about those heavy duty looking clamp lights from home depot?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if you can find one at the smaller size you need but search for grow lamps.
I've had the best success with high powered hps bulbs, commonly used in ummm.... horticulture applications. ;)

2 10Watts lights on my fuge and I grow algae better than I ever have in the many years I have been doing this.

Those are the same lights I have been using for years now and they work great. That said, if he can't grow chaeto under a 6500k CFL ro a 5700k PC, I suspect there is less nutrients in the water than he thinks.

While these lights are terrific and are what I have been recommending, I am not sure that will solve your growth issue if my suspicions are correct.
 
Maybe, but I had the same issue as him. Cfls never grew anything. When I switched to these leds, the growth drastically increased
 
I ordered a 30w version of the above, but I love saving wattage if 10w works.

As far as OP though. Something is not right.

I just hung a used 23w CFL that was used and of unknown color and age, and its doubles size in a week.
 
Wish I remembered, unfortunately it does say on them either. Sorry, I guess that's not very helpful. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Its funny shopping these, I found different lumes between brands with the same wattage.

Some had a round circle and some square the leds were in. That was the main difference


I ended up with a 30w that had over 3000 L, and some of the 30w I viewed were as low as 2400 L.


The one I bought also said it was 5th generation what ever that meant.

John -the lights you and others recommended aren't clip on, so could the 10w lamp rest directly on the fuge? Remember it's a hang on fuge without a cover.

Would either of these options work?

The LED flood lights we are recommending are IP65 water resistant rated so if the fuge is narrow enough, they could easily rest on it. You could also get a small piece of acrylic to cover a part of the fuge and lay them on that. That clip on light you are linking to would require a different type of bulb that may not be as good.

I made a frame to suspend them over my fuge.
