Funny you mention this, my Kole tang was as pale as a ghost the ich was so close to getting the best of him I was going to be very upset. Well I ordered the levamisole a week ago, it came on Monday. I dosed the tank Monday at 4:30pm... 2grams for 110 gallons rougly... SPS didn't change a bit, polyps stayed out etc, my RBTA however closed 100% instantly.... snails went a little crazy and fish seemed a little different too. I left lights out for 2 hours, and skimmer / carbon off for 2 hours. I then did a 20 gallon water change. Left the skimmer off over night and the following day to make it 24 hours straight with no skimmer running. However I did run carbon. Yesterday at 4:30pm , 24 hours since dosing I returned home. The kole tang was back to 100% original color looking beautiful! Swimming all over the tank like he used to. Ich appears off of him, now I know it's still in the tank absolutely, and I will have no way to know if this did anything unless I can make it past 5 weeks. This is the second outbreak on the kole tang within two months.
In a nutshell, I think at best it helped, if it didnd't work it didn't work and it will be back and I will have to QT... At this point all my future fish will be QT'ed anyway, I learned the hard way.
If it worked like some of the other posters I have talked to I will know in 5 weeks and be happy as a clam on a sea shore.
PS: My anemone returned to 100% normal health yesterday at 4:30... Bigger than ever and very healthy...
I can honestly say the 2 grams of the PROHIBIT LEVAMISOLE SOLUBLE DRENCH did not hurt anything in my tank at all.
I had 2 clowns a kole, a anemone, and 4 different SPS in at the time of dose.
I will definitely stay posted and update how my experience has been with this product.
I know Ich falls off and the fish looks free of ich in the normal stages but seriously, this was insane, I had so many spots on the Kole the night before, and after dosing, absolutely nothing on the kole, color returned and swimming around like crazy! If I see it appear again, I'm wondering how "intense" it will be, and if it does. Y0ou can bet I will try this at least ONE more time just to weight out options before QT'ing all my DT fish,
My fish definitely seem much healthier after the first dosing. I just wanted to know if anyone has dosed multiple times within a 3 day time frame? I know bad things can happen if you over dose.
So far here is what I've done:
11/2 - Dosed 3 grams (180g) for two hours with skimmer and carbon offline and lights on
- After two hours I did a 15% WC and new carbon
11/3 - 5g WC
11/4 - 20g WC
Today I want to do another dosing at 3g for two hours. Do you think this is too much too quickly? Should I wait 6-7 days like most people have?

Quarantine would be a possibility if I had only several small fish, but I have created my own nightmare.
I have 180gal, 90gal, 2x40gal and a 270gal sump all inter-connected. I've got about 35 fish total, the largest are two(2) 24" snowflake eels and 10" grouper.
I think it might be impossible to quarantine 35 fish in 2 x 40gal stand alone quarantine tanks I have...
12-14 months ago I had an outbreak of Ich and tried using Hikari Ich-X Saltwater Treatment, despite all the negative product reviews it seemed to have worked and everything survived. A combo of Ich-X, UV, water changes, increased aeration and slightly raised temp. I thought I was very lucky to get through that outbreak.
Now with only one new addition (blenny) 3 months ago I have another outbreak?
This past week I put in fresh UV bulbs, and trying the Hikari Ich-X Saltwater Treatment again, I'm seeing some improvement just today. A very tuff large Atlantic Blue Tang I thought was going to be dead this morning was still alive with improved color and started eating after three days with no food. It's tail is almost completely exposed bone and cartilage.
Others that had Ich spots seem to have fewer of them today and everyone is eating well (day 3 of Ich-X treatment)
Very upsetting to watch them suffer..
Will be doing a 100gal water change in next few days too...takes a while for ro/di to fill..
Disclaimer: I do not work for Hikari, and this is not meant to be a promotion for the Ich-X product.
