Future puck possibilities for Eco-tech Radion

I know this is a question that only time will tell but I'm curious as to what extent they can be upgraded without having to upgrade the whole fixture. I would like to see higher par for clams and sps on the sand-bed in the future for deeper tanks. Are UV leds and different 3watt led combos/optics are all that are in store with this current fixture you think? Will it ever be able to handle XM-L's.

I keep seeing led fixtures being sold as upgradeable, only to see a whole new fixture put out in a year. Just wondering how prepared for the future the Radions really are in terms of available electrical components within the fixture. Let me know your thoughts :bounce1:

Why not post in the ecotech forum in the sponsers section and get the answer straight from them.. The mazarra lights ( maxspec ) are def ready for the future as they are modular with changable optics and led s without soldering.

Because I know I will get they're standard response. I really just wanted a more general led lighting discussion, I just mentioned the radion because I own them. The mazarras are nice, I had them when they first came out but ended up returning them because of the balljoint (now fixed I believe). The ease of changing out the led's was a great idea..plus they have Xm-L's. But thats my question, how quickly will an led fixture be obsolete as soon as a higher wattage led comes out which seems like yearly. Are 3watt led's sufficient enough and all we need is to perfect spectrum and intensity? I was just wondering how an upgraded led puck configuration could boost higher par levels on the sand-bed (24") without reducing spread.

Ecotech does not comment on products they have not announced, and they like to tamp down speculation in the vendor forum because people might not recognize that any conversation there isn't official.

I think it's probably fair to have a speculation thread here, though. I'm sure sooner or later there will be a puck with UV. I'm not sure if they will make pucks with substantially higher output unless they LEDs are themselves more efficient because they might be limited by the power supply.

And for the record they've got some pictures on their Facebook page of their 350 gallon office tank with SPS growing like mad on the bottom.

I also have one Radion. From my physical outlook, there are still places for 4 LEDs per cluster and 1 spare channel control available so my guess is in future..ecotech might upgrade to 4UV/TV per cluster controlled by the spare channel (channel 6).
