marcorocks.com info. This is just in case anybody plans on ordering any rock anytime soon. I placed an order almost 2 months ago and have yet received it. They don't return emails and hardly answer the phone. The last time anyone answered the phone was 3 weeks ago to tell me my rock should be her in less than 2 weeks. Needless to say it is not here. So today amid my frustration on getting my tank to start cycling i went and bought 10 lbs of live rock to at least get the thing started. i have had water in it for a week and was just ready to get this going. Just dont want anybody to use them and have a time frame as to when you would like your tank running. I was hoping for some new corals for christmas. :-( Sadly that is not going to happen. Just thought I would vent here and let everyone else know what they are about. On a good note my tank is now started cycling. So hope fully my dry rock will get here so it does not push this back to far.
 
Many people had bad experiences with them.

I remember reading negative posts on other reef sites about them.

I hope you get it soon. You can buy a small pink piece of live rock and 1 small hermit crab from the critter just for fun. You will see something new and interesting everyday.
 
Wow, man, sorry to hear that. That is a bit ridiculous.

as far as marcorocks, have they charged your card yet?? if so, file a claim w/ your credit card company & /or bank. if not, i think you can put a stop payment on a company so no transactions will go thru from them

I'm sorry to hear about this. About the time I ordered rock from them is when they started having major problems keeping up with the demand. Put simply, at the time it was extremely difficult to find anything of the quality they shipped me at anywhere near their price (even from other hobbyists). There are a couple of decent competitors now (can't remember the names) but marco rock got a good name because of the quality/price... and a year ago they were keeping up with demand. Now... they simply can't keep up.

I pre-ordered my rock and got it from the next shipment that came in (it was delayed an extra week because of his supplier). The guy was responsive to my e-mails and he even sent me one when the shipment actually got there and then another one when my box went out.

I would imagine if that wait is now up over 4 weeks that he simply has too many people sending e-mails saying "how long?" to have the time to answer all of them.

It seems like the best business practice would be to adjust the price as a means of adjusting the demand, but what do I know?

It sucks your having problems and I hope it gets straightened out. Most people are willing to wait a little bit to get a good deal. Some people are even willing to wait quite a while as long as they are given a firm time frame. Just about everyone I know gets frustrated by continued delays and no real time frame... that's just bad business.
 
Wow man, that stinks. I bought some last year with skirossi, took us almost 6 weeks longer than planned to get our rock, and I don't think either of us got a single email back, and only 1 returned call between us. Good luck!
 
Yeah Brian you are right if i had a firm date it would be a little different. And you are right if he adjusted the price to maintain equilibrium then this problem would not be here. Simple economics. And the other things he is doing is just bad business practice. So i am just going to try to cancel my order and find rock some other way faster.
 
James i might take you up on that. I am going to try again tomorrow and see what they say. If i don't like what i hear then i am going to the bank and going to see what they can do for me about this situation.
 
just let me know.....i have the ones pictured in the sale thread & then there is alot in my bathtub in a vinegar bath that i'm probably not gonna use all of it, so there is plenty LOL
 
Please post what you find out on your order. I to am waiting on mine. Been 2+ weeks since he emailed me and told me it was on a ship that left Fiji on 11/18. Well it has been 2 weeks and no rock for me. I really do not care if it takes awhile I just want to be informed why it is taking it so long. I have heard from others they are not even shipping rock from figi anymore.
 
OKay here is the update that i have got. The rock landed in the harbor and is waiting to be cleared by customs. That was as of their website posting on the 18th. I have tried numerous times to contact them to just cancel my order and no one has as of yet returned my voicemail. So I am headed to the bank on Monday to see what can be done about this situation through my bank. Don't know if they can get my money back or not. If not i guess i will just wait it out and see when it gets here.
 
I called him the other day and got through. He said it was in customs. Hopefully you'll get things cleared up with yours. I'm just going to wait it out. It was back ordered when I purchased it so no complaints here.
