G. falcatus larvae!

I put a male and a female G. falcatus together and here is the result.
Many baby mantis. The larvae are 4 mm big and still stay together.
I cannot try to raise the babys, because i have no rotifers at the moment. I try it next time.

You should definitely try raising them, and selling them, next time they mate.

The larvae will go through their first 2 molts and 7 days remaining in the cavity with the mother living on stored yolk. They then molt to the fourth stadial stage and immediately become photopositive and enter the plankton where they start to feed because the yolk is gone. If they cannot feed, they starve in a couple of days. I have reared them individually in cups fed only nutrient soak brine shrimp nauplii. They are in the plankton for a month and will molt 3 or 4 more times before they settle as 7-8 mm postlarvae.

I have Platinum brine shrimp and some selco products here.
I think i can try it!
When they become photopositive in one week i seperate them in small cups.

I use a canon Digital Rebel xt with a EF-S60 Macro.

It was a planned thing. I have a pair G. falcatus in a tank with a divider.
Next time i try it with G. ternatensis, G. viridis and O. scyllarus.
