Don't count it out just yet. IF it starts deteriorating to mush then take it out. But there are many stories of BTA's being obliterated by powerheads and them coming back as long as water params. are kept in check.

Edit: I would also run some fresh carbon as well.

Looking bad....Ammonia in bag after 1 hour of acclimation was what looks like 1.0. Tank ammonia is 0. Here is a picture, let me know if its a lost cause and if it needs to come out of the tank, and please let me know asap, as many responders as possible.

Carbon was replaced this morning nitrates are less then 5, nitrite 0 ammonia 0, sg: 1.026. Everything else is good to go in the tank other then the nem. I had everything in the tank ready for the new arrival, Im really dissapointed to see it in this bad of shape. And can it really come back after beign this inside out??? I mean mouth is open 3 inchs, tentacles are completely deflated, no movement from the nem.... (minor tentacle movement as of 2 mins ago.)

Also powerheads are off to prevent deteriation, and because its not sticking to anything in its current condition.

I would leave it for now and just closely monitor it. Did it attach to the rocks? If so there is Hope.

As of right now it is not attached at all... and im keeping my shrimp away from it cause they want to eat the middle of it thats gapping out. So there is still hope even with its cuts completly open like it is????? If so I would say that BTA's are def tough. Right now its still not inflating at all and not looking good.

Obviously im freaked out because this is my real first nem and I really didnt expect to be trying to recover what looked like a completly healthy nem on DD. Thats why I ordered it from DD and not off the invert section I wanted to see a Pic of it healthy.

I really hope that someone with way more experience with BTA's will chime in as I only have had one and my clowns started loving it too much so I brought it back to the LFS. The only issue that I can think of why it is looking like this is because of the ammonia in the bag.

Looking worse.... The fish in the tank are investigating it yellow tang even acted like she wanted to eat the middle, I shooed her away. I will keep everyone updated. Im checking the ammonia in the tank every 20 minutes cause I dont want other inhabitants in my tank to suffer. Tank ammonia is still 0.

How long will it take it to deteriate If its going to?? I also turned my lights back on to see if that helps. So far no change just what seems to be getting worse.

If you have a plastic strainer or some eggcrate try and cover it to keep others away. I wouls also turn one of the powerheads on so there is a little flow in there but nothing too close to the nem that will make it blow away. Also if you look it your first pic after you put it into the tank and compare it to this one it seems as though the tenticles are starting to inflate. Yes it looks bad but as long as no pieces of it are floating away I would just keep a very close eye on it.

I wouldn't give up hope yet (( E. Quads are pretty tough )), but it doesn't look great.

For future reference, that acclimation period was too long, if you detect any ammonia in the bag (( after temp acclimating )), get it out of the bag/water and into your tank. Ammonia can do a fair amount of damage, more then a quick acclimation.

What are the current parameters (( with numbers )) of your tank?

PO: 0
PH: 8.3
SG: 1.026
Nitrate: less then 5
Nitrite: 0
Calc: 470
DKH: 12
Temp: 79

As for the acclimation I waited for temp. Then acclimated with a quarter cup of water every 5 mins for an hour. After the first two quarter cups I dumped half the bag water out and continued (to get rid of as much ammonia as I could). Also I didn't test the bag water right away so I wasn't even sure it hadd ammonia in it, Just noticed the mouth was open around an inch. If this thing recovers what am I looking at for a turn around and recovery. I have to go to work tonight at 9pm, wont be home until around 7am in the morning. Should it stay in the tank?? I know for next time get them into the tank sooner if there is ammonia. At this point it is getting droopy.... It is however partially attached to the rock, tried to turn on one power head indirectly and it looked like it might blow off the rock so opted to keep it off, re-aimed the flow from tank so it is getting some flow around it. However it still looks very bad. Here is the most recent picture.

Maybe its just a different angle of the pictures but it appears that it has closed the mouth more from the last pic.

Nope def not, if anything its more open and drooping down. Its either moving down the rock on its own now or slowly starting to dropp down the rock, do I leave it be or should I reposition it back on top of the rock.

Or at this point is it a lost cause and I should remove it from the tank and call LA for a refund??

...... Its on the move moving down the rockwork to the bottom of the tank it seems. should I turn off the white lights in my tank or leave all lights on????

I had to move it back up, no way to protect it on the bottom under the arch..... there is now a small tear outside of the mouth opening, is this signs it is deteriating? This really sucks I was hopping this would turn around but it doesnt seem to be any better. You guys keep saying give it a chance but how long do I wait before I remove it, I dont want to lose over 300$ of fish not to mention corals I have in the tank. Here is a picture of it at this point, with the tear or what looks like a tear on the bottom leftish right below the mouth.

What I would do is keep the water condition good and stable. don't try to feed the anemone. Get a small plastic basket and put the anemone in it so it does not float around and get kill by circulation pump PH what have you.
BTA are very hardy, it may pull through. All you can do is provide a good safe environment and pray that he recover. A plastic basket is essential to keep him from being chew up by your equipments. Good luck
