Generator Help

Hi all,

I am looking into getting a generator, with winter coming I really don't want to be SOL and feel like I really rolled the dice last year.

Thoughts on this Generator, would it be enough?:

Equipment:
Apex Jr + eb8
150w finnex heater
2x MP10's
1 JeBao DCT6000
1 Radion XR15wPro Gen3
1 SCA 301 Skimmer

Obviously I would probably just run my return pump and my heater until power would return, but if it would only be a few hours I'd gladly run everything.

Thoughts?

That generator looks like a fine choice. I have a Generac that runs the tank and most of the house. It can be a life saver.

Never heard of a predator generator. Generac is a proven brand, thats where my money would go.

Delicate electronics will fare better on an inverter, like the generac iq2000 or one of the Hondas or Yamahas.

I have a Generac whole home. I got it after my basement flooded. I'll never have a house without one now.

IMO, I'd pass on a regular generator and get an inverter. Pumps especially could behave erratically (Similar to using a UPS that doesn't put out a true sine wave when on battery.)

Are you worried about noise at all? If so, look at a Honda.
For me, I have a Champion 2000w inverter genset and I can power pumps and heaters(250w, 200w, 100w) for 3 tank as well as our fridge/freezer as well as our little freezer in the garage.

I burnt out a pair of 400w PFO magnetic ballasts some years ago, trying to run them on a generator. Be cautious running sensitive electronics on generator power.

I have a 8000w gas generator, I will use it to run my AC return pump, but I would never try and run my Halo LED, DC Gyre pump, etc. on it. Mainly, it powers my pellet stove and refrigerator
