Generators and a true sine wave

Hey everyone,
I have pretty much everything I want for my reef except for a generator in case of a power outage (I do have some battery powered bubblers that run off of D batteries but I would like something better). I was looking at getting the DuroStar DS4000S 4,000 Watt 7.0 HP OHV 4-Cycle Gas Powered Portable Generator off of amazon but I am concerned that this particular generator may hurt my apex, return pump and MP40's as I do not think it has a pure sine wave. My question is can I run the generator directly to a UPS (I have an APC 600 watt battery backup) which has my Apex, MP40's etc all plugged into it and be safe knowing that my Apex, MP40's, and return pump will not be harmed? I am hoping that the UPS would provide the correct pure sine wave that the electronics needs.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that any AC generator will create a true sine wave, the issue is that it is often not clean. This isn't to be confused with an inverted DC signal that often isn't a true sine wave.

Using a UPS to condition the signal should be fine.
