Bellus female

Terrific fish, very active, non-aggresive and social. No problems but I have only had her for 6 months.

I have a pair in my 400G tank. No problems with other fish or corals.

I've actually seen them start a mating ritual a few times but I have not seen them disperse any eggs as of yet. My female is very fat like shes carrying eggs.

I was thinking about adding them as the first fish to my system at the end of March. Good idea or not? Does the tank need to be really mature like it does for tangs? I have a 90 gallon with a 38 gallon refugium/sump and a Euro Reef RS 135 Protein Skimmer. I'll probably add a pair of clowns about a month after that. The rest of my fish won't be added until mid-summer.

IMO you should add the clowns first. They are more hardy. Genicanthus are hardy once they have settled in but can be temperemental at first, particularly the males. They are genrally a deep reef fish so getting then accustomed to our 'shallow' tanks can take time.
The clowns will act as a safety net for establishing water conditions.

i just brought home a bellus female last week from the LFS. this angel is awesome. it acclimated very easily and ate about an hour after it was in the tank.

ive read that if you add 2 females one will turn male. is this true? im wanting a pair of them, but after all i read on the problems males encounter decided against getting a male. any thoughts on adding another female? thanks!

I was gonna get some wanatbe's ,which are pretty much the same, for my 90G. One thing I have noticed though is that they require cooler temps. it says 72-78 online. I like most people keep my tank at 78.5. It swings up to 83.5 and back down everyday. Are these temps too high for this fish, and is this kind of temp swing everydy hard on them?
