Sure! I'd love to. If each of you that has posted on this thread could paypal about $100, I'll throw in the rest and put together a suitable home.

In return, I'll send pictures. Think of it like those "adopt a panda" things :)

Thats funny.....I would send you $100.00

So, I read on one of the prominent reef blogs (you can guess which) that there are several divers planning trips to this area where juveniles have been spotted. Here's to hoping this goes as planned!

Also, since these guys are so rare, PLEEEASE be selective about who you sell these to! I'd hate to see any of them be lost. Oh yea, and try and keep at least some in the states/Canada!

I am guessing if any juveniles are actually collected, they are going straight to Japan. I would be surprised if we see any of these fish hit the U.S. market. These fish will definitely carry a hefty price tag, a major payday for the collectors.

GBD.....OMG.....I just saw the post. Im not only embarrassed but kind of mad about it since now a frenzy amongst the divers is sure to ensue....

Rob, the ocean is a large place, what are the odds they find the spot you mentioned as well as have the skill to dive that deep?!?!?! Also, doesn't hurt that you already have your trip planned!

With the price these fish command, I could see other divers trying to get there first.

It's a dog eat dog world.

i hope rob will be successful...after this hype,if things go wrong...a lot of disappointment
will be felt everywhere...

Your telling me.... for real Im feeling the pressure like Im playing in the superbowl or something...dang. All I know is that I can seriously kill myself on this trip if something goes wrong and that Im spending about $3500 on this 4 day collection trip..... I better get something and live dammit!

Best of luck Rob! Dive safely.

I would be interested to see what else is picked up during the dive. How many will diving total with you?

Mike

As scary as it may be, I'd trade my office for yours any day. You live the life, perfect job! Goodluck and be safe.

I would love to try a dive....But I am not going any further than 50 feet......No fricking way will you catch me attempt to go down that deep....

My luck the line I follow to the bottom will break, or worse the anchor for the boat will break and when I came up there would be nothing around.....Noithing like a feeling of being lost....

If he is going to 250 feet, I am assuming he is diving a closed circuit rebreather rather than on air. Still, it is not without risk especially if the bailout routine is new to the diver. There is also an issue of decompressing the fish. I have been pretty deep on air and while narcosis is an issue oxygen toxicity is a greater one.
