Genicanthus Wantanabei gender swapping....hopefully

Congrats man! It looks like you have been waiting a long time for this transition to happen. Beautiful fish, I have a pair of swallowtail angels and I do really enjoy them.

Wow very cool, wild how long that took too! And I gotta say, your pictures with a ton of zoas and that nice big hammer in the back ground gives me hope. Next tank upgrade I want a trio of Genicanthus sp. angels, leaning Bellus, but Watanabei are a possibility too, and I thought that would probably conflict directly with my Zoa obsession.

@Dmorty, There hadn't been any further changes since the update about the anal fin in Aug 2015. The anal fin kept the pattern the whole time. Then last week, almost over night it transitioned to the shots above.

Lol, Genicanthus don't usually touch anything. Be brave, try new fish. Compatiblty charts are often wrong, and if they are right that's what traps are for.

Thats amazing, I can't believe it took so long to full change!

Nice! I added a pair with a male that had the stripes. Unfortunately, he lost them after a month or two. I added a Bellus angel female because I like them and was hoping another female genicanthus would bring his male colors back. He still has the spots on his anal fin like yours did. Maybe in time he will get his stripes back. Yours gives me hope!
