Does anyone use the Schuran media/Schuran knock-off media in this unit?

What initial settings do most people use? I was thinking something like 45 bubbles/min and 60 mls/min effluent and go from there. How about pH? --> with larger media would you still run it around 6.5 or 6.6 to dissolve it (low like the Schuran unit)?

I use it in mine. I don't count bubble rate or effluent rate, so I can't help you there. I jsut go by pH of the effluent. You can run this media at 6.5 pH and it will dissolve plenty, but the lower you go from there to 6.2 the more concentrated the effluent will be. At pH of 6.2 you can get DKH of the effluent in the 90's!!

Yes, they are. I plumbed it myself. They come in CPVC. Get the skimmer with a 1/2" bulkhead. Got to HD and get all the CPVC you'll need to connect them.

I am trying to fine some O rings for my geo calcium reactor that would seal better, when i change the media out and put a new O ring on it will not seal back wright.

RGibson,
Just clean the gasket and the groove and it should seal right up. Do you have the clear lid? If so, that makes it real easy to see if you are getting a good seal.

So would you guys say the GEO NW skimmers are comparable to the Euroreefs in performance?

I've had 2 Euro-Reef skimmers and my GEO works as good or better than either one of them.

redeye - last i recall it wasn't on thier site. call jeremy. it is 2.00/lb i believe. the link that slovan posted is not the one. ask for the schuran knock off stuff...the stuff that lunchbucket has

That's all I've been using since I've had it. Haven't had an issue yet. :)

hi...
dont mean to hi-jack the thread as im not a GEO member yet. but im looking to purchase a Ca reactor from him and was wondering if you can tell me whether the reactor has an opening to measure effluent directly in the chamber or is it made by special order?
