GEO Club...

Mine cam with one, and I did not special order it that way. I believe the older units did not have the probe holder, but new ones do.

I'll be part of the club any day ;) 8" x 36" skimmer. I had some hard time finding pictures, so I'll post a ton when I get it.

New Geo Club Member.

I bought a used Kalk Reactor. Wow, what a piece of equipment!

Question, how tight should the lid fit down. If I tip it to the side water definitely will spill out?

You shouldn't have water leaking out at any time. :) If you do, the lid isn't tight enough against the o-ring. Keep tightening it down until you don't see anymore leaks.

Congrats on a nice piece of equipment!

Offically part of the club now :)

This should be a small... minor... little bitty... tiny... step up from my AquaC 120.

RokleM,
That skimmer is a beast! Is it the standard 28" tall or is it taller than that? Congrats on a very well built skimmer. GEO is an awesome guy to work with too! :)

It's running like a champ churning water. If it's doing this with freshwater, saltwater should be like a storm in there. I had a few last minute plumbing changes, so it worked well allowing this to churn for 12-24 hr or so. And yes, all boxes, items, and such must be inspected by the local authority and sniffed accordingly ;) Occasionally a good rub on the item is required.

No, I had a ton of room to work with, so it actually sits at about 34" total. If you think this is big, you should see some of the custom equipment for phishybusiness.com and such. You're right about the quality as far as I can tell. As soon as you pick the thing up you can tell it's built like a rock.

I'm going to let this compete with my AquaC 120 for a few days :D :eek2: I'll post more once it's running, but I figured you guys who didn't have one of his skimmers would like to see how some of his stuff is currently looking.

Cool. Keep us updated with plenty of pics and let us know how you like it. It must be nice to save on shipping costs too right? :D

Let me preface this with a couple of notes:

1) My AquaC 120 has been running in my 100 gallon sump for a while (and in my old 20 gallon sump before the upgrade). It continues to run as I type. It has always done OK per say, but isn't performing well in the open water. I empty decently dark skimmate about every week to week and a half.

2) I have a light bio-load right now (couple dozen snails, 2 cleaner shrimp, 2 1.5" goby's, and 2 less than 1.5" clowns).

The seconds and/or minutes of initial startup are as follows (has not had any salt water in it up until this point):

30 seconds:

I let the water drop to see what stuck on the rim, at 4 minutes:

Now, first realize that is green goop it's collected already, then go back and re-read the first two statements I made ;)

I ordered a Geo external recirc skimmer over the weekend, just got my tracking number from Geo. Be here on Wednesday , I cant wait, it will be replacing my EV120 . It will also run beside my Geo Nielson reactor and Geo Calcium reactor.

Well, my kalk reactor shipped today so I believe I am officially part of the club. :) Still the president of the MRC club though. ;)

After reading about the 'stir bar' type of kalk reactor, I decided against it and decided to go with a GEO instead. Thanks to those answering my questions earlier on in this thread.

Wow! Instant results, can't complain about that. :) Keep us posted on what your first full cup looks like in a couple of days and what it looks like in a few weeks. It'd be interesting to see how much it can remove initially and what it will look like running normally.

If there were different levels of membership to this club, you'd definitely be a gold card carrying member!

Probably Diamond or Amex Black. I am packing two of the holy trinity - custom Ca reactor and a kalk reactor. My skimmer brand comes out of left field (Grotech). I can only see myself going the H&S/Deltec route if I ever upgraded.
