i will be ordering a geo cal reactor this coming monday, but before i so need to get it 2 things straight b/c i am getting conflicting info

1) are the reactors that are sold on the premium aquatics site the same as those you buy direct from geo

2) do the the new type reactors come with the adapter that holds the pH probe

thanks

Well I finally got salt water in my tank and I am setting up my Geo Skimmer and I had a couple questions. This is my first skimmer and I'm fairly clueless on how to make it go, LOL.

How high should the top of the bubbles be in the collection cup? Should they be right to the top or should they be lower and then let gunk build up and overflow.

Pictures would be welcome.

Thanks

Here is one of the last pictures I took of it.

Well I have trying to get my GEO calcium reactor dialed in and having problems with the milwaukee ma957 regulator. I am on my 2nd regulator and still fustrated with it. The first one I would get the bpm set and then 30 mins later there would be no bubbles at all. I did everything to their instructions over and over again with no help. So I returned it and got another one. Well the second one did the same thing and upon talking to folks at milwaukee they said I had to much back pressure at the needle valve and that is why the bubbles would stop. They said I needed a higher flow needle valve and told me that I could drill the presently owned needle valve out or they could mail me a replacement needle vavle. I opted for the replacement needle valve instead of screwing mine up with a drill. Well with the needle valve still the same prob. Well per their instructions and troubleshooting info they said to leave the needle valve open all the way and adjust with the main regulator control valve. Well I went ahead and decided to just adjust with the needle valve and that cured that problem. Bpm was consistant now.
But now my levels have been rising.
day 1 alk 12 cal 465
day 2 alk 15.5 cal approx. 520

After day 2 I lowered the bpm and did the test again on day 3 and couldn't tell how much higher on my tests it would be.

So I decided to turn the co2 input off by unplugging the regulator today to let the values of alk and cal drop on their own to testable levels since my test only go to 16 alk and 500 cal(salifert). Unplugging the regulator however didn't stop the flow of co2. Am I understanding it right that the bubbles are supposed to stop when the regulator is unplugged right? That is what the controller I have is supposed to do when the ph gets to low is shut off the co2 I thought. So I am thinking that now the solenoid must be stuck or something.
I am thinking now about taking the reg. back to the lfs and getting another one. What kind of regulator does everyone else use and/or recommend? What other brands are there out there? Do people have problems like this with the regulators?
I am so fustrated with this cause I want to my corals back in my tank that are being held by a friend. Sorry this post is so long I just thought I would give the full story.

I have an Aqua Medic regulator. Does your regulator have a solenoid? The controller tells the solenoid to close, which is what shuts the co2 supply off to the reactor.

I have read that the JBJ & Milwaukee regulators have problems all the time (1 out of 3)...I just purchased my Geo 612, but, have not plumbed it in yet. When I do I plan on getting either the M3, Genx, or the
ReeF Fanatic (more than likely i will go with the Reef Fanatic) to aviod such problems. I have heard from many on this board and from my local club that once the Geo's are tuned in they are "set and forget", whne a quality regulator is used.

Has anyone found any high Phosphates when using the Gen-X Media, knock-off Schuran stuff?

Just curious i know you Geo reactors seem to use that media?

I'm going to give a sample of my reactor effluent to a friend that has access to a Hach spectrometer, but haven't done it yet.

let us kow as soon as you get the results:D

i should give a sample to two of my buddies. they have a Hach and a Hanna colorimeter...would be cool to see the results

I cant' get my calcium reactor line out. It has been running for awhile and my calcium level and my akalinity level's arent increasing. If I open up the efflunt line the reactor's Ph starts to rise and when I open up more co2 to the reactor the reactor starts to hold bubbles all in it.....PLEASE HELP!!!

Bubbles in the reactor are fine, don't worry about that. Use this calculator to help you adjust your effluent and bubble count.

Ok i took the alk readings from the effluent and the tank and both didn't register anything. Im using salifert's test kit for alk, My ph is 8.2 ,salinity is 1.024 ,0 nitrates ,and 0 nitrites my tds is 0ppm. The reactor is on a controller and set at the low of 6.5 and the high of 6.7....
