GEO Club...

Anyone have a pdf or ?? for a 40" beckett? I just joined the club last night and haven't started hooking it up. Better to have the outlet above/below waterline? Water level in skimmer to start.

I didn't start out with that much effluent, but I adjusted the amount to keep my water parameters consistent to the needs of my corals.

Chris i think that my 612 Geo calcium reactor is not made for the large grain schuran type calcium media and i will need to back to the A.R.M reactor media that i have used for many years.

WOO HOO! Got my GEO 618 Calcium Reactor hooked up and dialed in. I feel so special to be in the Geo club

RGibson, from his TOTM article, this is why CWARD's effluent rate may seem high.

"My plan is to let the table Millepora grow as big as possible (it's currently 37" L x 27" W)..."

CWARD doesn't like to brag, so I'll do it for him ;)

I have the large GenX in my 618, and it's not much bigger than yours. Why do you get that impression?

RokleM my 612 Geo calcium reactor would need more flow than the eheim 1048 pump that came with it to work well with large grain schuran type calcium media ,large amount of bubbles stay in the media and come out all at once .

Eric did that Gen X pump come with the 618?

I'm not sure why you're running into this. My 618 has a small Ehiem on it as well and doesn't have issues. I do have a little bit of air that is in the chamber (not a huge surprise, air will be in the media when initially place in there and released slowly). It however doesn't become an issue unless I loose power. When I loose power, it will push the air bubbles around a bit, until they collect in "dead" spot on the lid where it's trapped.

Do you think you have a leak that's causing air to enter and build, or have you ever been able to get the air fully out?

Eric I put new lines and a new o ring on the reactor and there is no water leaks, this did not start until i change to the schuran type calcium media. It could be that the 618 you have is larger then the 612 ii have and it makes a different. The schuran calcium reactor has a pump that is 2 times the flow then the pump George is using on the 612 calcium reactor, this allso could make a different.

Ralph,

I also have the 612 with the schuran media and have the bubbles circulating through the reactor. The media is fine with that reactor. Remember it is different media so your reactor will need to be ran with slightly different settings than with ARM.

The bubbles are just excess Co2 gas and should not be a problem. If you are running your reactor with a slow effluient I could see that the excess gas in the reactor could potentially effect the effluient drip rate. The easiest way to get rid of the bubbles is turn off your Co2 tank for a few day and allow the bubbles to purge. Then set your bubble count to less BPM to allow the Co2 to disipate in the reactor instead of flooding it with Co2. You will then need to play with the effluient to readjust for the demand of your system. I hope this makes sense.

Do you think that maybe you guys have increased your bubble count more than necessary, which is easy to do when you have a ph controller?

Okay, it was just a thought. I know with using a controller, my bubble count is way higher than I need it set at.
