forget it thanks

forget my previous request for quotes. I bought an H&S instead. They were happy to get back to me and answer all my questions. Great customer service there & I am happy to pay to know it will be there. My skimmer will be here in 3 days.

George, business must be very good since you don't have the time to get back to someone after a few emails and a call. I was looking to and did buy a high end skimmer for over $1000+. I would have thought it was worth your time. Guess not. I will be moving on. Glad business is so great.

Where do you drip your effluent from cacl reactor into your sump? I have a three section sump. 1. tank drain and skimmer 2. refugium 3. return in that order
Pics of my sump.

Looking for help from the Calcium experts.

Looking for help from the Calcium experts.

Anyone have a problem with TOO much calcium in the water? That's what I"m facing and am open to suggestions on how to correct it. I am using the schuran media and have the ph in the chamber between 6.4-6.5 . Alk is a little high too at 13.2 but I lowered the bubble count and raised the ph hoping that would help. When I measure the calcium, it's over 500.

Calcium and dKH are directly related

when one goes up the other goes up, when supplied by a Calcium Reactor.

If your Calcium AND alk is too high.

RAISE your pH in the reactor, your in a sense overdosing.

You raise you pH by decreasing your bubble count or increasing your effulent to the tank. HTH's

Thanks. That's actually what I am doing but I feel better that someone else has confirmed I am taking the right steps. I'm just surprised at the speed these both climbed. This schuran media sure works better then the A.R.M. stuff I had before. I couldn't get my calcium above 350 with the A.R.M.

i know customaquatic has it but it's out of stock currently. they also have a generic version.

aquaticeco carries it.

premium aquatic has a generic version also i believe. i'm not 100% sure.

It may be the imitation brand, but it looks the same. I bought it from Premium Aquatics.

dkelley02 where did you buy the schuran media?

I was originally going to order from aquaticeco but when I went to check out, they were going to charge me an additional $30 international service fee or something like that. No explanation for where that was coming from until you went to pay, and there was this additional charge.

Thank you for the help,it seams that it would be hard to tell if one was getting the real thing or the generic as it is sold by the pound.

I am having a club member(our very own president for our club Melev) build me a reactor drip chamber. What hole size to I need to hold the reactor output valve? Do I need the valve or can I just use the output hose? I need to know what size so he knows how big of a hole to drill. The reactor I am getting is the 612.

I built a holder for my drip line and PH probe just like that one.
I just got my clacium reactor back on line, it has been offline for 2 weeks now while I waited for plumbing parts to fix a leak in it.
Parts would have been here over a week ago if it wernt for my postman putting the box in a bush so I never saw it.
My calcium dropped from 460 to 400 over this time period with just Kalk reactor and no calcium reactor.

I bought the GEN X shcuran knock off media. Its basically the same thing. You can get it at PA.

My skimmer has stopped skimming today for the first time after emptying the skimmer cup and cleaning it. I cleaned it like I always do but it is now 12 hours later and it has not built up a foam head yet. The only thing I did differant was I applied silicon O-ring lubricant to the O ring on the union. Ussually when I clean the skimmer cup it builds foam in less then an hour.
Anyone have a similar experience.

Silicone can kill your foam production for several days. When using silicone on o-rings, only use just enough to make the o-ring look wet. Any more than that and it gets into the water and kills foam production.
