My Geo skimmer is modded with the meshwheel, it is the 8 inch with the sedra 9000, and it works good. I have not put an air meter on it, but when I do, I will post results
Looking to order Geo CA reactor, couple of ?'s
Is the 618 big enough for a 215gal tank with tolal vol. of about 270gal? It will be a mixed reef of sps, softies and at least a few clams.
which media should I use- gen X or ARM?
which size Co2 tank would be best 5 or 10lb?
I plan on getting a PH controller-what range should I set it for, for the different medias?

I'm running a 618 on a 215g SPS tank with good results. I'm using ARM and have to complaints. I haven't tried any other media so I can advise on the others.
For may ARM media, I have my controller set to turn off the solenoid at 6.5. You don't want lower pH with ARM since it has the tendency to melt.
As far as your CO2 regulator, please choose one other than a Milwaukee. I and many others have had constant problems with this regulator not being able to keep a consistent bubble count.

I have a 624 and have about 135 gallons total volume. I use gen x. I used to use ARM but prefer gen x. I can go lower on the PH with gen x and it doesn't turn to mud. I had to run the ARM lower than 6.5 to meet the needs of my tank and it started to get a little mushy. My controller keeps it between 6.42 to 6.46. I would have a controller for the CO2 and a separate monitor for the tank. I have a Pinpoint controller and a Reef Fanatic controller. I prefer the Reef Fanatic as it is easier to calibrate and seems to hold the calibration longer. I have the Marine Depot deluxe solenoid/regulator and it seems to work fine. I haven't tried any others so not sure what else works well. Nothing special about the tank size-the bigger it is, the longer it will last. I have both a 5 and a 10 and they work the same. I recommend this thread if you want some expert advice. While it started as a Korallin thread, Jdieck is really an expert on anything related to CA reactors and is a really helpful guy:

What is everybody using to feed their calcium reactor and kalk reactor? Is it okay to feed the kalk reactor straight from your ro/di unit? And for the calcium reactor, is it okay to tee off from your return line and feed it to the calcium reactor? Last question, what media is everybody using for your calcium and kalk reactor? Thanks.

I also have the ReefkeeperII on mine but use its PH probe to monitor the actual tanks PH. I use a Pinpoint PH controller to monitor and control the GEO 6x12`s use.
This regulator will cost you a little more but its top notch and built real well. It also carries a 3 yr warranty vs other 6 mth ones. Oldsalty here on RC showed me it and I`m glad I got it. Its a great regulator.

I feed my Kalk straight from the RO/DI. Some are not comfortable doing this because If the top off was to stick open it would be an endless supply of fresh water/kalk...
you would probably want some type of backup.
My 612 is also fed from the return pump. The only worry here is, if the return pump fails for any reason and the C02 is on with out a pH controller it can melt the media. If you run with a controller no worries.
I personally like the smaller granular calcium medias (like ARM or Koralith) and ESV for the Kalk.

I am thinking about getting a GEO Kalk Reactor and have a few questions. I really do not have a good understanding on how they work.
First I would like to connect to my auto top off system that consists of a RO/DI storage tank with a Maxi-jet 1800 pump controlled by my ATO. So my question is what is the max flow rate of top off water, will this be too much? The fill duration is approx 10- 15 seconds for each fill.
How many gallons of RO/DI water can go through the reactor before adding more powder with the flow from a Maxi-jet?

You should set the reactor itself to mix the material every few hours for a very brief period. Most will tell you that a drip or small stream on a large system is best. Anymore than that and you could have a pH spike. I prefer the floating valve and slow gravity fill method myself. How long the kalk lasts has to do with how much water you evaporate and pass through the reactor. I 1/2 - 3/4 of a cup into my reactor every week or so. I evaporate at least 5 gallons (up to 10) a day.
I can't officially speak for him, but from what I've heard he's currently focusing on stocking up with the reactors. Your best bet is to likely give him a call or shoot him an email with your request/requirements.
