wow that is a great looking tank!! and thanks for the heads up on that sketchup program..i just got it!! good luck on everything and i will be following along very closelyyyy :) :)

invincible - it's 220g - 72x30x24... I'm curious what you thought it was going to be. After all, as creative as your tank is, I'm sure you'd have some great ideas for this tank. Thanks for the great example.

samson - thanks, I can't wait to see what you create on Sketchup, keep us posted.

Zoos, it certainly did seem like a while didn't it. Well, I can tell you that it takes about a month to get back to page 10 ... LOL

General Update: arrived this week
H&S A200-1260 skimmer
2 - Deltec FR616 Fluidized Reactors
Deltec PF601S calcium reactor
Deltec KM500 Kalkwasser Stirrer

New pixs to follow soon.
Now I'm having to re-plan all of the equipment layout because everthing is bigger than I thought.

Well it's been a long time since the last update. The deltec stuff arrived in good order. I got tired of looking at all that stuff on teh shelf, so I hooked up the skimmer, the phos reactor and the carbon to the temporary tanks that I have set up to store all of the live stock. Everything is working great! Deltec certainly in on the ball, and of course customer service is fantastic.

The "fish room" used to contain a sauna in a prior life. The wood on the wall seems to fit that purpose, but is really dark, so I've decided to paint the walls white and dress the place up a little. (Pics to follow soon) I'm just about done with the trim.

The tank finally arrived from AGE. Everything was in great shape. I picked it up at the LFS in the back of my truck, but had to unload it by myself. 500 pounds!! I used a winch system that I had set up when I restored a 1949 Century runabout (mahogany). It was used to flip the hull of the boat several times so I figured it would certainly hold the tank. It lifted right off the truck, pulled the truck out and lowered to the floor. All went well.

gws294 its a beautiful tank and really good setup i have a Q? for you i guest some have ask this before but i am planing to make me a 390g tank and the pvc bottom is a option i am looking at can you show me some pics on how the glass is glue to the bottom please and if you can tell me what made you go for the pvc bottom for what i see lot off people have the opinion off it won't glue to the glass

thanks much

thesaent14,

I'll have to get some closeup pictures of the bottom seam for you. As to the details of the materials used to acheive this seam, you might want to contact Tom at AGE. He might be able to give you some thoughts.

Also, check out invincible's tank and Naka's tank and threads. They have the same type of tank as mine (I copied theirs actually).

I like the PVC bottom for a number of reasons. I was concerned about leaking bulkheads for CLs in a glass bottom, and I thought that the PVC bottom will help to protect the integrity of the tank if the rock every fall or get dropped. Also the ease of adding a bulkhead on the bottom if needed.

I'll put up some seam pics shortly.

Geoff, The tank looks great. Just wanted to follow along as I am in the process of designing a new tank myself, likely a 250g 80"x24"x30".

Tank Has Arrived!!!

Tank Has Arrived!!!

bristlebasher,
Thanks for the reminder, LOL... Just got the pics updated from the tank move. It arrived and was stored in the shop for a short time. After rounding up the gang and installing heavy duty wheels on my workbench, we loaded her up and wheeled her in.

Matt and Jorge from Star Aquatics help direct the move. These guys have been great!!

VERY NICE! Im glad to see such a nice tank being built from the ground up. How do you like it? Love the rimless! You will soon love it too when you get the water and rocks in there.

Cant wait to hear and see more pics.

Restarted the project!!!!!

Restarted the project!!!!!

Finally, after more than a year, this tank is now wet!!!

I realized that this sucker was way too big for the bedroom. So, decided to move the whole mess to a new location. Since last year I have been remodeling my new dental office and have incorporated the 220G tank into the wall unit in the reception room.

Pictures and details to follow.
