I've got gas heat for room temperature control, and battery powered pump for moving water around for oxygen, but it's going to be awful unhappy in my tank without lights, skimmer, and the rest. Not sure how long my computer's battery backup will work if I only run a single pump off it. We'll see. Haven't had an outage yet this year, hopefully not this time either.

Wow, had surgery this morning at Lake East, our 20 minute ride home was over an hour & a half. Then the pharmacy was running behind...kind of a drag for a bit, but all is well atm. :smokin:

It is totally white-out looking out our windows, but at least it's not the freezing rain again. I hope everyone w/out power still is ok.

Wife and I stopped at trader joes and picked up some odd/aged italian cured meat and cheese and 3 or 4 kinds of wine, white out and ice and it was only 1PM. At least we are prepared for the worst. lol.

Well meat n cheese n wine will give us the strength we will need to shovel out tomorrow. Let it snow (hickup) let i(hickup)t snow.

Oh well...it is Ohio...it does snow now and again. Even with global warning....I mean warming.

On serious note...I do hope noone loses power or worse.

ditto that ,,,stopped and picked up fresh fish ,(not for the reef tank) ,,its for my tank , crab legs , nice salad stuff , and a bottle of Crown Royal ,12 pack of coke ,
me and the wife are kidless and in for the evening , ill snow blow in the morning ,,,lol

I can vouch for getting the generator. I was without power for 50 hours this week due to the Tuesday ice storms. Lost almost all my corals in 4 tanks, about $10,000 worth I figure. Have a damn generator too, but a cheapo, not a Honda, which of course would not freaking start when i needed it most. To add insult to injury, my basement mildly flooded due to the sump pump not running...Looks like if I decide to continue in this hobby, I will be checking out the Honda's for sure.:furious: :furious:

Look for the tank sell thread momentarily....

if you want a nice little power packed generator ,,,check out the Honda "Quiet Power" EU series ,,small , not toooooo expensive and full of power, very nice ,very quiet , smart choice for any use

i have the EX4500 , it is way over kill for most anything , it will run 2 38" campers with dual A/C units in both, i have to get the breaker box add on, it will tie into my breaker box here at the house , and run my box if the power goes down (it has auto power on). it was way expensive when it was bought , around $3,700 bucks new , i got it from a camping buddy of ours for 1000 bucks , and its in perfect condition ,,,dont even think it has a scratch on it , he got rid of the camper and got a new 40 ft motor home /w 2 on board gens , so he didnt need it anymore ,,,my gain !!

Murphsalty,,,,,,,,,,,,I can not believe you would eat that stuff being you are in this HOBBY!!! Just kiddin have fun......

Wish I would have known about your emergency Tony. I never lost power & my generator was sitting in the garage.

No offense to Honda generators but the one I had wouldn't start when I needed it, so none are full proof. I gave my $1000 Honda generator to my sister for nothing.
The one I have now starts on the first pull everytime & it costs less than half the price & has more watts. I think the key is to start these generators every few months to make sure everything is in working order, so when the emergency does arrive it starts.

I read somewhere that gas can go bad over time..........another thing to consider if the gas in the generator's tank is very old.

this one is sorta high maint , need to keep the battery charged one time a month, i use a gas additive in the winter , starts every time, first turn of the key,
