Get these cheap Radions Gen2 or...wait????

I know that they are expensive lights but the way I see it is what is another 100?

I mean if you can afford 550 for a single light on an Aquarium then you can afford 650.

It is not like it's twice the price or anything like that.

It is so close in price that it is trivial really you might as well get the latest and greatest.

Ecotech does offer upgrades for Gen 1 to Gen 2 or Pro. So you can continue to have the latest and greatest. I would get the Gen 2 or Pro and then see if they continue to offer upgrades to the next gen.

Yes new ones will keep coming out.

But if you buy a Light the day it is released you know that you have the latest and greatest from that company for a year without feeling cheated.

That is why I always buy right when it comes out or right when the price drops.

I was at Macna. If Ecotech was going to release a Gen 3. It would have been there which makes me believe they won't show up in the near future. There were no rumors or anything being floated by them. I was grilling them with questions. I really wanted them to give me a hint that those hanging arms were in the pipeline.

I sat through a 2 hour Apex talk so I can confirm that.

I wonder if anyone videoed that and posted a copy somewhere? I would definitely be interested in sitting down and watching that talk.

Can you expand a little on the interface between the Apex and the Radions and how it will all work together? Provided they gave you that information at the seminar.

I don't remember seeing a video camera at the talk. I heard they may put the powerpoint up. Basically Apex Fusion will move all of your software to the cloud so it will tell you when your connection goes down. No more email or port forwarding issues. Lights that are apex ready "AI, Radions...etc" will have a module that links them to fusion.

You do know there is always the next product coming out right? The minute a tech comes out there is something better in development. 4k Tv's are already obsolete since 8k Tv's are in development and prototypes.

I agree. I already have my money together for Iphone 5s and Ipad 5. But not everyone is like me. Some wait for the bugs to be worked out or a price cut. I am sure the fingerprint sensor will be a mess.

Radion Gen 1/Gen 2 are still really good deals. They grow corals well. I have turned in and traded lots of sps and leather corals since I have had them over my basement frag tanks.
