Just got my hands on a carribean octo 2 days ago ( sorry i have nothing more specific but once he gets a little bolder ill snap some shots of him so you guys can help me id him.) ive been throwing ghost shrimp in his tank and i suspect he may have eaten one or two but im not sure. i offered him a bit of silverside with my hand, which he took underneath him for a minute then promptly tossed it out of his hidey-hole. so my question is, any surefire way to get these little guys eating prepared foods?? im trying not to be over anxious but i really want him to do well. so any ideas??

Crabs are ususally the favorite food for octopuses. Try appropriately sized hermit or fiddler crabs.

You might try pieces of fresh scallop or good quality thawed frozen shrimp.

Crawfish are also a possibility.

well, its been 6 days, i suspect hes eaten a few ghost shrimp, but he refused a guppy, and i just placed a piece of fresh shrimp from the supermarket in his tank 5 minutes ago. i really hope he takes it, but if not what do i do?? there has to be some way to feed this guy non-live food. i dont mind feeding him live food, i just rather feed him prepared stuff. any ideas or tricks to try???

Mine just loves those baby clams from octopets. If you have a sump/fuge to put them in, It is a good way to go. I bet your octo will love you for it.
