Hey Guys, quick question. Im tryi g to determine the best foam for under the tank. I have 2 types each with 2 x 3/4" sheets. Styrofoam or the denser foam. It seems like everywhere i look someone suggests something different....

When I had my 150 I used the denser foam, I'm also using it on my current tank which is 75g.

wow nice !
wath is the other side a fish room or some sort of living space ?
The tank and sump are located in a bedroom that was converted to my home office. Now its basically a fish room with a dwlesk in the corner. More tank, less working from home.

Nice Build, Best of luck!
Thanks Rogger.

This weekend was slow with regard to progress. My wife had some family in town so i was on kid duty. I did manage to finish framing out the living room side of the cutout. I am waiting on a linear bristle passthrough to finish out framing out my daughters side. As soon as the framing is finished i can get the tank into its final position and move on to plumbing...

Looking good buddy.....just remember with the rock ....less is more. Keep it suspended and minimal on the bottom, avoid the rock pile syndrome. Let me know if you need any assistance. Glad you got it moved and all worked out for you so far. Also as far as the foam the silver aluminum looking foil one is just fine. Thanks what my 540 is on and if ATM the makers of mine say its good to go then I will have to agree. Its been up a few years and it hasn't budged a 1/16th.....

Hey, thanks. Hydra for the fish was the perfect recomendation. They are awesome. I have been combing through all of the reefscaping threads for ideas on the rock. I think i have an idea of what i want to do.

I need to find some of those suction cups to lift the tank one last time. Where did you say i could find or rent them?

Congrats on buying Bill's setup. Great progress and thread. If you don't mind, who built the stand? Sorry if it's posted and I missed it.

Also, I have an odd request. If you end up not using the one rock on the bottom right of this photo, I would like to buy it.

Thanks, im definitly happy with the setup.

The stand was done by Doug at Doug B Welding. He was able to get it done in a little over a week, price was awesome, and it came out great. Im thinking about having him do a few more smaller stands/mounts for my RODI container and denitrator.

As for that rock i was origionally planning on putting it in the sump as i only had a small amount of it and wanted to keep the display tank reserved for a mix of these...

Instead of using live rock in the sump i was thinking about using the brightwell reef plates to maximize biological filtration for the space and hopefully keep the sump a little cleaner looking. If i go that route i would definitly sell it if you were interested. Its soaking in RO now and kind of mixed in a few different containers. I have a few pieces that are easily accessable if you want to see it. Im going to hopefully start the reefscape here in The next two weeks or so and should be able to have it all out.

Im interested to see if anyone locally has used these plates in their sump and how they feel they performed.

It's been a crazy few weeks with family in town as well as a long trip out of town myself. I am finally able to focus back on getting this thing up and going so if figured I would give a quick update.

drywall and trim work is 90% done. just some final touches but that might wait depending on other work we are doing around the house.

I wet Sanded and polished the DT removing some pretty heavy scratches all around. Some areas I had to start at 600 grit and work my way up. most areas I was able to start with 1200 and work up to 3000. I finished off with a polisher and 3M Finesse it on a foam pad. I tried the Novus product but i am more familiar with Finesse it from my time in yacht maintenance and found it a little easier to work with. I think it came out really nice.....

I picked up the 600g storage container from Bill as well so I have that cleaned out and sitting right outside the window to the fish room/office. I am using for an AWC system that I will run through the Neptune DOS but I have not done any plumbing into the room"¦

This week I'm going to try to make some modifications to the sump and finish plumbing the drains and returns. I was going to run a Beananimal in each overflow box but figured tuning two of them at the same time might be a little bit of an issue. Instead I decided to do a Beananimal in one box and a Herbie in the other. I figure this way there is not as much fine tuning and I will have more than enough failsafe's. I have red pipe on the way to finish all of my straight runs so I'll have to wait for that to finish. My returns are not going to run through the overflow boxes as they were originally. I am going to run the return on the wall up to the top of the tank. I still have to figure out exactly where and how I will place them in the DT.

Hopefully I will have the plumbing done this week and start adding rock this weekend!
