I have a BTA which is gettin pretty big4-6 inches, i´d say.
is there any way to speed up the splitting process?

You can try to increase your feeding frequency then perform a WC to encourage a split. My BTA is about 6" in diameter too and I just might give this a shot.

If you can get it out of the tank w/o harming it why not just propagate (cut it in half) yourself? There are many articles on the net about doing it.FWIW

i wont risk moving it...so basicly feed it a lot and perform water change. Thank you guys

My mother BTA got about 12" then split to a 8" and 4" . then the 8" split in half and the 4" grew to about 8" and split. So now I have 4 BTA's. This was within 1 1/2- 2 yrs. All I did was feed the clownfish well and they fed the anemone.

Okay, so I fed my RBTA twice within the past few days then performed a 10% water change. Crossing my fingers, hope this thing splits.. it's getting pretty fat.

If i feed it with shrimps and mysis how frequent should the feeding be?
Once the anemone gets large, it will divide on its own. You can feed as often as every other day, or perhaps even daily, assuming you are not overfeeding your system. BTA's grow quickly if you feed every second or third day. Shrimp and mysis are good, as are silversides, squid, clam,etc.

I have a huge RBTA that is at least 18-20" diameter that I cant believe hasnt split. I have had nems split for me once and that time every BTA in the tank (like 4) split within 24 hrs. Not sure what I did wrong/right but wish I knew so I could do it again!

Well I got some odd behavior. This morning the RBTA was exactly where he'd always been, but when I got home from work he had moved behind the rocks. I'm hoping this is a good sign, perhaps he was looking for a position where he could get his foot onto two pieces of rock.

I have had multiple anemones split the same night also. I have always wondered what tiggered that. I agree with feeding every other day but watch to make sure he does eat the food. Another thing you could do would be to move the rock he is attached to to another position, I had one split the next day after doing that once. I also have moved them with no effect. But you risk him walking to another spot if you move his rock.
I have a rbta and gbta. Only split 1 time in a year i've had it. Then last April I started feeding them every 2-3 days then they split a few weeks later right after a water change. Then after that I've been cutting them in half. It works but did have 2 deaths--I learned to wait a bit longer before cutting them up. I have 10 of them now. The pet shops do it all the time.
A 4-6 inch bta isn't very large and any splits would be really small. Any splits you get will need to grow to atleast 4-6" before they can host without the chance of damage.
Mine got as big as a dinner plate before it split into 3rds.
I don't know if its concindence or not but since i put my moonlight leds on a lunar cycle timer it has split in Dec. the last 2 yrs.
I have a mixed lps/sps tank and I feed a fish mush a couple times a week and a silverside once in a while, so I can't say exactly how much it gets. But then i'm not trying to raise bta's either.
