Getting ready to add LR into tank for cycling (Tropical Paradise)

So then I'm in the stage of adding some LR to my tank. Some folks on here said not add any livestock to the tank until it's finished cyclying. Tropical Paradise tells me it's necessary to add LR to help with the cycling. I told him what RC has to say about adding livestock and I wasn't sure if that included LR or not, so I would like to get a clearer answer. If it's okay then I'll be getting a few pounds of it tomorrow.

majestic -Tthat site has good pricing, but there's no way in hell am I going to pay for those insane shipping charges. Might as well as buy them here within the hour. Good stuff tho. Thanks.

TP has good live rock with plenty of life on it, but if you are looking for the best price go to All About Fish in Pleasant Hill about 30 min. from you - They have Fiji, Tonga, and Marshall Island - you can get the Fiji for 3.99 pound. I would say that with your power filter you don't need alot of rock unless you are eventually going to stock more heavily than just a mantis. MORE IS BETTER though with live rock, I would say minimum 20lbs good porous rock, and get a bunch of rubbly pieces from the bottom too - it is chock full of life and my mantis' seem to need it to feel cozy in their dens (cave and door building)

Yep, add the LR now. Even if your tank is fully cycled, when you add LR it will cause a cycle. So you might as well do it now. After you put in the LR, be prepared to do a lot of water changes. You'll notice all the stuff on the LR - tiny fanworms, coraline algae, sponges, maybe some shrooms if you're super lucky. Frequent water changes during LR curing will help to preserve the life on your rocks. Good luck!

ttt - I greatly appreciate your information. I'll check out the P. Hill store on Friday after work if they're still open. I was going to TP this afternoon but the $6.99 is a little on the heavy side.

Hwarang - Thank you for your help as well.

BTW, what's the difference between Fiji, Tonga, and Marshall Island? Any particular rock that is preferred?
