jdkos what is your total system gallons?? No brand does not matter, I got the cheapest triple distilled vodka I could find. Also do you have a skimmer, it is NEEDED for vodka dosing.
PE is great. my corals look much more colorful in person but they are not all the way there yet. I will hopefully having a local reefer come take some pics. He is a photographer so pics will be really good. If that falls through then I will borrow a good camera to take some pics. The initial post was back in Sept. 2010 and it appears that sps still have issues with coloration. At first I thought you needed more nutrients, but you posted you are now feeding Rods. I am puzzled by the lighting issue. My lighting is a 150w/20k Radium on a 28 gal tank and coloration (knock on wood) is not an issue, the previous bulb was a Phoenix with no issues either. How is the PE on the corals? Have you checked throughly for RB? (Pretty sure we frequent the same LFS, Tucson area, and I ended up with them)
Just for the heck of it, I would frag a couple pieces put them in a friends tank and see how they color up, might see some interesting results.
I think the grow is weird because I have moved the tank and many of the acros around in the pastDefinitely look at the lighting. The growth pattern to your sps in not normal either, almost looks like they are running away from the lighting in they way they are growing. One coral I could understand but they all seem to look that way. The lps look like they are suffering as well.
You got my camera can not adjust to the bright MH light to get a good pic.Are they that light in person or is it just the picture? Im thinking maybe the pics are making them look lighter than they are. I can't see them surviving this long if they are as white as the pic shows them to be???
