Ghetto Rig

Cut off the plastic dome? I'd think that would scatter the ligh considerably, unless you happened to be using the "wide angle" LEDs that I went to pains to avoid.

Of course! That's why it's ghetto.
After several sessions with a piece of wire to clear it, I changed my dosing system to this local lab garage sale peristaltic pump with dual orange juice jugs and baked baking soda additives. Note also the skimmate collection container using another juice jug. Hey, I live in Florida.

OMG, I bet I could find an old IV pump.

I have these, which seem to work fine:

yeah, I was using the concave. you might want to try cutting one though because the tips are frosted and you might get better shimmer.

I didnt even have pegboard and made my own holes

Nice. How'd it work for you?

My domes aren't frosted, and since I'm getting ready to give away my LED tank to a fellow club member, I'm not going to mess with it.

OK here it, it is my ghetto fresh air intake for my skimmer. Just an experiment...i hope (or at least my wife hopes)

did it 2 hours ago...prob a day, or till i get a co2 scrubber. I have low ph do to co2 in the house

I have the same problem in the summer, high CO2, low ph...

I *thought* about trying something simmular.

Running an airhose with a Wisper air pump up my chimmney with an open flue (no fire, summertime!) into my skimmer air intake.

I wasn't sure if it would work, because of the air/H20 contact with the apmosphere, still containing the CO2... and producing the carbonic acid.

Please post if that crazy thing worked, and raised your ph

I saw that CO2 scrubber, and figured it would be a better option.

WOW, you have a great spouse.

Mine would've sh+ kittens with claws for THAT DIY project through the house.

:bounce3:

The best part has to be that it is propped up by what appears to be a 6 pack of V8 and a Juice bottle on its side. That is a stellar setup.
