Ghetto Rig

you can run both, but the carbon is exhausted much sooner than the phosban. you could probably do another acrylic disk that fits into the pipe to separate them and put the carbon in the top so it could be changed more often than the gfo. i only run carbon now and have since made a completely acrylic one (like these) that doesnt have to be in the sump

do you have some diy plans I could follow to make this

OMG this thread should be marked nws (not work safe) lmao
When I saw the drain I let out an uncontrolled stifled laugh that got my boss staring into my office. Love this thread.

Not much, but here is my rigged ATO. Actually it's more like a drip, but I've set it to match my evaporation rate. 2.5G. Limited on space, so had to make due!

Also notice my super sweet vacuum hose that I used for the gravity-return on my refugium. Nothing else would fit the bulkhead! (It was threaded)

Ok, I'll play....ghetto is my bath and body works approach..lol...oh, yeah I am such a girl! I use an exfoliating bath glove to clean the acrylic of the brown coraline algae and a back scrubber to rake the sand...the bath glove is awesome because I can "feel" the algae and also I can feel when I get a grain of sand that will scratch the acrylic...it gets way more ghetto than that as I am unemployed lol...but that's a start!

Clamp lamps and 6500k bulbs with silica sand. Critter keeper as a skimmer box.

Cost of the entire tank: 20(clownfish) + 10(rock) + 3.50(sand) + 10(lighting) = $43.50
(I had the 10 gallon, xenia, skimmer and pump, so those are not included with the cost)

Hm, turns out I have some more:

Diy moonlights and diy t5s. You can see the moonlights at the top of the picture and the ballast + 2x4 on which the reflector is mounted on the bottom:

And the actual lights: <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/6x-qHRLJ2zo5S_6F-Yn70A?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_xXnKvgKPgX4/SN69TsyBEhI/AAAAAAAAAPs/Q_2QDMEheCg/s800/DSCF0002.JPG" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/deformative0/70g?feat=embedwebsite">70g</a></td></tr></table>
