GHL Mitras Club

Hi

The price is not coming down sorry, it was set lower than what it should have been anyway to be market competitive, the same goes for any holiday specials.

Its a great deal already ;)

From looking at the spectral graph, i guess there is some true ultraviolet, but it doesn't look like much more than what one might get from a KZ Fiji purple t5 bulb. Or even a true actinic bulb from giesemann.
The trend in LED lights seems to be to include some 400-420 nm spectrum and call the LEDs 'something' violet..
I don't think the intention is to get a significant amount of true ultraviolet, but just to cover the bottom end of the visible light spectrum..

So the difference detween the 6100 and the 6100 HV is the HV has 6 more leds that are ultraviolet. I do beleive they did studies on corals and Uv and found that there was not much positives from running it. The HV can make your tank much more blue.

It is violet, not UV, big difference. At 425nm it is closer to the actintic peak you get from 10K halides and that is a good thing. :-)

Bingo! Jack and Matt hit the nail on the head. It's not UV and yes it's very similar to the KZ Fiji Purple T5 (which is my all time favorite "accent" bulb).

GHL wasn't going for UV but something "special" that will make certain colors pop and also hit certain missing "peaks" from the other LED.

Hi there.

I did double check the GHL website before posting. I looked at the link to the GHL page for the Mitras; nowhere on that page does it state the peak wavelengths of the various LED's on the Mitras. - Apart for the HyperViolet LED which it does state that it is 425nm.

So, my question is again, what are the the peak wavelengths for particularly these LED's?

1. Royal blue?
2. Blue?
3. Green?

Eg: have a look at the Ecotech Radion Pro webpage; they clearly provide the peak wavelength specification:

http://ecotechmarine.com/products/radion/radion-xr30w-pro/

Specifications

Model "“ Radion XR30w Pro

LEDs
White: 8 Cree XT-E Cool White (5w each)
Red: 4 Osram Oslon SSL Hyper Red, 660nm (3w each)
Yellow: 2 Osram Oslon SSL Yellow, 590nm (3w each)
Green: 4 Cree XP-E Green, 520nm (3w each)
Blue: 8 Cree XP-E Blue, 468nm (3w each)
Royal Blue: 8 Cree XT-E Royal Blue, 442nm (5w each)
Indigo: 4 SemiLEDs UV, 415nm (2.5w each)
Ultraviolet: 4 SemiLEDs UV, 405nm (2.5w each)

They clearly state the peak wavelength of the single colour LED's along with the how powerful they are: ie 5w, 2.5w etc etc.

I appreciate the work done by Rodney, and while his graphs provide valuable info, I'd also like to know what the peak wavelengths are of the respective single colour LED's.

Many thanks.

Just got my 3 mitras units hung... pictures to follow. I did have to post in the AqumComp mitras forum a problem. The driver for GCC needs to be Digitally signed for 64-bit OS's. Full details and screen shots here...

Also I just did a firmware update with an older XP notebook, my main rig has Win 8 x64, the "master" mitras unit took the update to 1.07 fine , but how to get the slaves into boot loader mode to take the update??? or do you have to do each one separately...???

Thanks for the quick response AQD, shows me you guys care about your customers  . I did get all three updated to 1.07 FW and I finally found some aluminum |_| channel at Lowe's that is working for now, it has a slight amount more "bow" in the middle than I would like. I anxouisly await the GHL rail kit release...:bum:

I am still working on my fixing to our cardboard walls. Got a local cabinet maker I think I will bend his ear to do some nice curved wood mount.

I finally was able to get my light hung last night, my issue now is that it will not allow me to update the firmware...I've tried multiple times following instructions. Running Windows 7. Maybe I'm missing something.

Also, what settings are everyone using? Or are you just using the defaults?

Is anyone using the HV Hyper Violet version over the regular lx? What are the main benifits? I want the 420nm output. Do I lose that with the regular version? Is the HV available in the US yet?

So, today is the day to buy a cheap windows 7 laptop..
I'm Mac, but not being particularly versed in the nuances of running windows stuff on a Mac, I thought I'd simply buy a laptop to control the mitras and perhaps a profilux down the road..
It'll simply be my 'fish' computer..
Is there anything I should be looking for in a cheap laptop? I assume any new windows 7 laptop should have enough memory and speed to to the job?
Thanks for any advice!

Actually, should I get windows 7 instead of 8?
Can I assume this will make it simpler?
I can get an Acer 10" notebook with windows 8 for $231....
But will I be better off with windows 7?
Thanks again!

I did the same thing you want to do. Based on the advice I received from an IT person, I went with Windows 7. It is my understanding that there are many issues with Windows 8, and quite frankly, I am not well versed in computer technology so I took what I thought was the path of least resistance.
Hopefully, you will receive responses from folks who have actual experience with Windows 8.

Run from Windows8 right now unless you're very "Tech Savvy" and want to "tinker" and such.

Honestly our company is still working with WindowsXP Pro and love it. I just installed 2 new workstations and made them both XP Pro just for better driver support and compatibility with older in-house hardware.

My personal computer(s) are Windows7 but I'm staying FAR away from Win8 for now.
