GHL Mitras Club

I have joined the Mitras club and am running one unit over my 100x100x50 tank and it has replaced a ATI 39wx10 fixture.
Have had it on for 1 week so far.
Initial thoughts were wow shimmers crazy but have adjusted to it now.
Program seemed pretty hard at first but am starting to get use to it now.
All corals are going well with greens starting to get a bit deeper colouration.
Time will tell how the rest react

This looks great. It's been 4mo since you posted this, can you send a picture of what the tank looks like now? What are your overall thoughts on having 1 GHL for this size tank? Sorry for all the questions but I'm having a 90cm x 90cm x 50cm tank built right now and yours is so similiar...

Thanks
Chris

As much as i wanted to get away with only using one unit over my tank i have recently had to add a second mitras.
I was finding that to get the coverage from one unit I had to run it at 100% in high output mode which despite being quite high up ended up burning a lot of my corals that were directly underneath it.
While waiting for my second unit, I re hung my ATI t5 over the tank which in the 2-3 weeks corals started improving.
I am now running the two mitras at 80% on high efficiency mode.
At this stage Im not convinced these are as good as the t5s but other people are getting good results with the Mitras so i will give them some time and see how things progress in the tank.
Here's a top down shot with the 2 mitras on my tank. I have done a bit of a rescape to suit the 2 lights.
Cheers
Craig

Has GHL made any progress with a wireless adapter for the Mitras? You just cant find the old USB wireless kits they used to have as that standard never really took off like bluetooth for computers,etc...

Talked to some fellow reefers about the fixture and its light coverage, it seems alittle bit under what its supposed to cover.... What do you think that my tank needs 4 or 5 fixtures? 10 X 2.5 2.5 FT

h.cordero,

It really depends on what you plan on keeping in the tank. If it's going to be mainly acropora, I'd side with reefmutt and suggest 5 fixtures. Otherwise, 4 will be enough.

FWIW, I'm running one Mitras over a 3ft x 2ft tank without a problem. There isn't any shadowing with one light.

Micheal, I find photos always trick my eye, is your Mitras 8 inches off the water or is it higher?

Buller awesome looking tank! Can we see some fts from the sides?

Do you think 3 of these would cover an 8' x 30" x 30" FOWLR without spotlighting?
And at what height should they be hung.

I am excited to say that I have joined the mitras club. I recently purchased one for my 60 gallon tank 30x24x19. Cant wait :)

Michael, polyps Eddie is a buddy of mine. He's who I was asking for coverage info from you the other day. Hes got the best light out there so he's off the a GREAT start

Hello from Singapore!

Hello from Singapore!

Hi everyone! I'm a reefer from Singapore and one of the first few proud owners of the GHL Mitra 6100-HV. I am using the Mitra over my 1.5 feet nano cube. Hope you like my humble little tank!
