another quick question. I figured out the setup without the controller. How do I specify intensity overall outside of doing it individually?

Thanks

Jim

alright, figured that out too. My old par with 250 mh's was 550 at the water. My new par even at 100 percent is much lower. I have it at 40 as suggested. What par should I shoot for?

What par should I shoot for? I have 2 6200s over a 120. The par currently is much less than my old 250 watt MH. I know this can be deceiving. I used to get 550 over the over, now I get about 100. This is on 50% intensity. Any thoughts? I keep my lights about 18 inches over the water. Should I dial it up or let it be?

Is there a reason why you're keeping the lights that high off the water? I'd suggest having it lowered to maybe 8-10 inches off the water and keep the intensity at 50% for now. You can bring up the overall intensity by 5% every week until you reach about 70, maybe 80%.

Most importantly, keep an eye on the corals.

Yes there is. Less salt creep, less splash. If you can only keep you lights at 50 -80, why not lift them up and keep them away from the water? My only concern is a significant drop in PAR.

Can I go 100% to get the par to 1/2 of my MH? Would that be damaging? Should I go somewhere in between? I'm measuring everything. PAR. Alk. Ca. Mag. I want to see if all things are equal the Mitras are better. Thanks!

You must have some serious surface agitation in your tank to keep it that high up. :)

Fwiw, I have my light 9 inches off the water and I barely get salt creep on it. I suppose you could keep it at that height and raise the intensity to 90 or 100%. The only drawback is that you will be using more electricity to achieve the same results you'd get if you were to go ahead and lower the light with a lower intensity.

Are you running the light on high efficiency or high output mode?

Wow, I'm Honored, to see my tank here in this thread, the pictures are not recently taken, they where shot a couple of days after my LX 6100 HV arrived, by god what a difference in growth and coral colors, i can see now after 1 year. Hooray for Mitras. but i will try to post some new for you guys as soon as possible, in the meantime you can see new pics in my danish thread's.
My tank by the way, was Choosed as TOTM on the Danish Saltwater forum for November month, and i thought about translating the thread to English, and post this on RC. But for now, here´s the link to the danish site. http://www.saltvandsforum.dk/viewtopic.php? f=138&t=63664 , where you can see newly taken photos of my system.

Go to energy settings, change lamp to high intensity then the max intensity to 100% from the default threshold of 80%

to toe composer and set the lamp to 100% and click on the tab at the top for direct output

put sunglasses on and stand back! ;)

In all seriousness if you are running the lamps out of spec at 18" above the water line then you need to use high intensity mode and also ramp up the energy threshold to 100%.

Thanks for the responses. A little more help.

I figure for dimmable moments the first one is on percentage and the last should be 0 or off. However I got up at 6 and my lights were on. Am I wrong? Also at 10 there was some blue on despite the fact that my last dimmable moment was zero. Thanks in advance.

Appreciate the response, all were unchecked and I'll see how it goes tonight. I thought the illumination channel was how I adjusted the light to how I like it? Am I wrong?
