Is this an LX6XXor LX7206?

If it's an LX6XXX, follow these instructions.

If it's an LX7206, the reset button is located right next to the USB opening. Press and hold the reset button using a paperclip and hold it in for several seconds. That should get it to boot properly.

See the emergency update instructions above. Be sure to update to the latest LX6100 firmware first. Once you have it back on track, then change the settings in the Mitras to LX6300.
 
Its an LX6XXX. I followed the Emergency update Guide. It upgrades the firmware just fine, but it will not start up afterwards. The procedure worked on one of my previous 6100's, but this unit used to be a 6200.
 
I have 4 units. I have upgraded 3 so far. One of them with the emergency guide. This one upgrades but will not come on after the upgrade. The program led just blinks after the upgrade and I cant log into the unit afterwards and the display is dark.

Have you tried holding the reset button to see if it will come back up after a prolonged reset?

Worse case, I would try using the emergency update procedure with an older firmware version that you have used on this fixture before and see if that helps.
 
Yes. I just tried it again. With closer look its not the program light that's blinking. Its another LED further away from the reset button.

Ok. I figured it out after putting firmware on this unit about 25 times and hitting the reboot key repeatedly. The firmware was not working. I went back to an old firmware and tried it and it worked fine. When I checked the directory I was using on the manual upgrade it was using the file in the USB direct Program directory. I noticed the firmware I used in the old loads was in the firmware directory. I Downloaded the firmwares again and tried to work the 6100 back to a 6300 via one change to 6200 since that is originally what it was when I purchased it in the firmware directory. Now the unit is telling me its a demo unit and to contact support if it isn't. It will not let me change the unit to 6300 now.....but the firmware is at 120 now.

Need help getting the unit out of demo mode now.
 
Go into the menu tree from the front panel display and you should be able to change the mode from demo mode.
 
I'm guessing you would need to change the mode to "illumination run". You might be able to change this setting in GCC though I'm not 100% sure as it's been a while since I played with my 6200 in GCC.

Here is a screen shot from the LX6xxx programming manual showing the displays menu structure and the Demo Mode option. If it's not that, it could be either corrupt from the firmware updates or you may be using the wrong firmware version. I see you posted in the GHL forum as well. Hopefully if the info below doesn't help you, then you get a response from the GHL forum. Otherwise, contact GHL support. You could always try a later firmware version but beyond that, I am not sure what else to suggest other than GHL support.

Question -

I have just purchased Mitras LX7200 - 4 fixtures for a reef tank. Since I have an Apex controller I am not keen on purchasing a Profilux controller. What will I be missing by not have the Profilux? Can I do everything on the fixture console that would be available on Profilux, or is there more? Finally, if there is additional capabilities with the controller, are they generally covered by the Profilux Light, or does it too have lighting control limitations in comparison to the full blown Profilux controller? Thank you!

The GCC Software will allow you to control all functionality of the Mitras without the Profilux. It's the same interface to program the lights with or without the Profilux. The difference is that when you have the Mitras without the Profilux, the Mitras are setup with one being a Master and the rest being slaves. If you have a Profilux, the Mitras are all setup as slaves and the Profilux acts as the master sends the lighting commands to the lights. At the end of the day, from a lighting standpoint, you don't loose any functionality by not having a Profilux.

I have a question for you who hang their mitras with the hanging kit.
How do you guys manage the excess cable and the power cord? Also do you guys have any problems keeping the light leveled because of the pull form the power cord?

While I don't hang my Mitras, you shouldn't have any issues hanging them. The cord comes in handy because you can zip tie the cord to the hanging wires and use the tension to the keep the light straight. Or if you choose to run the wire towards the back of the tank, I'd attach the wire to the wall and again, use the tension or the attachment point to level the fixture.
