Fiiiiiiiinally, I can post that I've actually started my build (well technically) since I put my deposit on my new tank. It will be a 60x24x24 custom tank by Felix at ReefSavvy. I checked out some places and left Felix's for last and was VERY impressed with his craftsmanship. I will post some equipment ideas and stocking list ideas in a bit. I plan on making this an SPS Dominated tank with most of my current livestock and the addition of an angel or two and I hope to find a pair of Moorish Idols that are feeding so I can make them the first occupants... We will see.

More info in a bit...

:)

Awesome, great to hear another ReefSavvy tank is going up. I went with him and couldn't be happier. Mine is 84x28x28 in-wall. What type of overflow did you go with? Post some pics up as you start getting stuff ready, thats all I do as i wait in finishing up my set up.

Im going with Felix's glass holes design with a built in return section 1500gph. Hes gonna make it 3" deep so i can access it with the eurobraced top.

Heres my current stocking list that will go into the 150:
Majestic Angel
Regal Angel
Hippo Tang
Copperband BF (pending survival)
pair of OC clowns
Longnose Hawkfish
Swissguard Basslet
Wheeler Goby
Lyretail Anthia

Wishlist to add to 150:
1-2 Moorish Idols (only if feeding at store)
either a Scribbled, Conspic, or Emperor Angel
Achilles Tang
3 Lyretail Anthias
Leopard Wrasse
Blotched Anthias

Depending on the availability and survival of the Idols, my wish list may downsize. I dont plan on having all those fish but thats what i want in order of priority. Just some ideas...

I was wondering if I can do 2x250 watt halides with some t5 supplementals. I have seen people do 2 halides in a 5' tank but have also seen people do 3 halides. I thought 250watt would be the perfect bulb with all the combinations available but am wondering if 2 bulbs will work and if so which reflector would be best to spead out the light.

Disclaimer: I have never used halides only pc's and t5's... So halides are a bit chinese to me so Im not even sure if dual end or single end....etc.

Please chime in and gimme some ideas!!!!

Side note: Im thinking of going with 2 vortech mp40w and the ecosmart controllers. it looks bad!!! If anyone has them in a similar setup PLEASE chime in as well!

Nice I heard about Felix working with Glass-holes and I am very interested in seeing how they turn out. And I'm on the same boat as you in looking into light and it being all chinese to me too. I have a thread going on here as we speak and am getting a lot of help, feel free to ask questions there. Maybe a question you ask is one i hadn't thought of yet and we can kill two birds with a stone. I'm looking at the mp40w ecosmart too but im going to have to wait a bit (it doesn't fit in the budget right now, and some things like lighting are more important, but I will upgrade to them).

What are you going to do for your rock structure? I went with Marco and tied them all together, I always had rock slides in my current set up and enough was enough.

Looks like your off to a good start, Good luck.

Like we spoke about today Eddie, I really think that 2x 250s will work fine. I also really think that Im going to drop one of mine so maybe Im just trying to convince myself that it will work...lol

As for the Voretchs.....doesnt get better imo....

Picked up a new Tunze 6206 Wavebox for 250 bucks... Slowly piecing the puzzle together. Now im looking for a pair of Tunze 6085s or maybe 6065s to provide the main flow in the tank. I'll use the mj1200s that i have now for the rear of the tank to keep detritus from accumulating.

Just bought a new GEO 618 Ca Reactor for my setup off RC. Its being shipped today and is brand new! Comes with the 10lb aluminum C02 tank, reef fanatic regulator, arm media and eheim 1048 pump. Im stoked!!!!

Oh and i picked up a Tunze Nano Wavebox last week too!

Even though its in my 72 bow, I grabbed a Leopard wrasse yesterday (eating frozen in my tank so far too) and a Multibarred Angel today (not eating yet but lets pray!)

These will be additions to my 150 pending survival of course. Oh and the Copperband from a few weeks ago is now eating frozen from the clip so I think he a keeper!

I have BUT Ive had better luck with getting new occupants to eat frozen mysis mixed in with live brine than feeding a mash like Roggers. My other fish love Roggers though so once I get everyone eating frozen on the clip I'll mix in Roggers and others like Rods.

Just bought a pair of Tunze 6105s and a 7096 used off the used for sale forum. This will go with the Tunze nano wavebox I bought a few weeks ago. Pieces are coming together and tank should arrive in a few weeks. Will post pics soon...

Multibarred Angel is still acting shy BUT is coming out more often and is eating well within the rockwork. The Leopard Wrasse is doing excellent and is out all day and eats anything live or frozen (no flakes/pellets just yet). My Copperband died about a week ago unfortunately and I think there is just too much aggression for him in the tank and he wasnt able to handle it.

Heres a few pics I snapped...

avaneaton,

I really dont like the look of the motor on the outside of the tank the vortechs have. Ive been reading up on Tunzes and their customer support and its second to none. Plus, Im used to having Koralias in the tank so that look is cool with me. I already purchased a Tunze wavebox and now all my flow will be from the same brand. Dont think I could go wrong either way (Tunze/or Vortech) so I jumped on a good deal.

I get what you're saying. I just picked up a 2nd vortech for a 6x2x2 180g that I will be setting up so I wanted to see if there was a major deciding factor for you. My tank will be a peninsula with both vortechs on the overflow end with the return coming in on the viewable end. I guess I will find out if it will be enough flow all around, I am hoping it won't be a ton of flow by the pumps and not enough on the other end.

Can't wait to see everything set up.
