Gigantea Lighting

Was just wondering what people are keeping their gigantea carpet anemones under? Wattage, Kelvin ect. Would love to see some pics. I would assume most are using MH

If this helps I am running one 400 watt 20k radium over a 60 x 36 x16
Less lighting and less flow than others are posting on this board.
Lamp is 22 inches from water
Temp 77 degrees

Thats the thing, my nem tank is only 15-16" deep with the sand bed. I guess i just don't want to over do it too soon.

I had pretty good luck with keeping giganteas about 6" under the water surface with the anemone directly under a 14k 150 watt MH, 8" from the water's surface, with a gentle surging current. Giganteas are often found in tide pools and other shallow water areas. It is pretty tough to over-light them. However, you don't want to shock them if they have been living in a low light holding tank, especially if they have lost a lot of their zooxanthellae, which most of them have.

I had some other problems that caused their demise but lighting wasn't one of them.

Allright. My setup is a full size lumenarc with a 250w SE socket and M58 pulse start ballast. Flow will be 2 K3's and a quiet one 4000 return. Might switch the koralias out for a vortech. Is there a good SE 250w bulb you guys would reccomend for good growth and colour? ( without supplemental actinics if possible, it is allright if it isn't)

Hard to "overdo" lighting with S. gigantea. Most people try to keep them under inadequate lighting. What you have described for your lighting will be ok as long as the water isn't too deep.
