For you guys who have a S. gigantea, have any of your fish been consumed by the anemone?

no, the gigantea isn't known to be a big fish eater. from what i have read, its sting isn't as potent and reaction time isn't nearly as fast as the haddoni, giving any potential fish meal a chance to get away. where as the haddoni snaps shut faster around the fish, which leads to more stings and usually a missing fish.

the mouth on my gigantea definitely could open up enough to eat one and i'm sure he could eat a sleeping fish that haplessly swam into him at night but the clowns usually keep others away.

Great Thread!

Great Thread!

I like this thread so far...

I'm relatively new to the Gigantea world... only around 2 months now.

Here's mine, easily 12-14" across when open.

Currently under T5's with individual reflectors. Soon to be under 250W MH in shallow tank.

Eating mussels like a champion, tentacles growing well.

Pregnant clown to boot.

Keep 'em coming!

Rod- that purple blows my mind. I've never seen anything so glorious. Any tips? If I wanted to do anything, create any set-up, to make my gigantea thrive? Right now he's just getting by..
